I'm learning 3d modeling from school and because of covid, I have to teach myself. the videos my professor provided didn't go into details or explained as well as you did. Thank you so much for your video.

Monica - you are an exceptional educator. I've watched so many 'how to' videos and yours are the best buy a LONG shot. Fantastic pace, very clearly described, reinforcing by repeating at all the right times and an absolute gold mine of shortcuts in action. VERY well played :)

I have to second this. I normally export the model as an fbx and work on textures in substance painter, but some of the simpler ones I should probably just do in photoshop. There are a lot of different ways to do something in Maya, and I learned a few extra things in a very efficient manner :)

Hi Monica, I am studying a masters degree in computer animation and Special FX I hate to admit it because it is embarrassing but I have learning difficulties and my whole life was spent in the military until I was wounded whilst serving and had my career pulled from under me. The previous commenter was absolutely correct about those tactical repeats that you emphasized at the right times, Perfect! Thank you

I am learning Maya on my own; I just took some assets from the Unity asset store and started to change the models from there. The creator is actually talking to me and helping me too, which is really great. I want to learn more about this, and after I have learned about how to clean history to export a model, rig it, and then do the Blend Shader model, I want to learn how to paint it, because I want to create custom materials too in Unity. This is helpful. I watched your video the first time, but I will need to watch it again, so I can follow step by step. Your voice is pleasant by the way, and somehow you're funny too, I heard some puns there, not sure if that was intended, but at the end of the day, I see this being really educational and helpful, thanks :D

Exporting the UV as an image seems really helpful for low poly models, I didn't know you could do that. I always just exported the model as an fbx, but this seems much quicker 👍

This may be a stupid question, but which type of Photoshop did you use? I was able to follow all the way up to mapping UV's, but Adobe Photoshop Express has absolutely any tools, and for some reason will not open a tiff file. As a college student, Adobe Photoshop Express was free.

That's very odd. How old is your computer? You either don't have enough room/space in your computer (delete files), or your computer can't handle Photoshop. I hope it works out!

Hello, I just came across your channel.. I have been learning blender and I want to move up to Maya.. feels like there is alot of opportunities compared to using blender.. What's your advice?
@AcademicPhoenixPlus4 жыл бұрын
Blender is a fantastic start to 3D and it has a large community of supporters. I would encourage you to use Maya since it is more used in the industry. Blender is picking up steam, but Maya has years ahead and integrated into a lot of industry pipelines. At the end, the most important part is the art. If it looks awesome, that's all that matters, no matter what software used. :)
