Came across to this video when I was just starting as a cathlab radiographer and now I'm back 3 year later. And I can say that this video is very informative. Thank you.

I'm a cath lab radiographer in Australia. Do cath lab rad techs usually have to cross train in other aspects of patient care in the cath lab to work in the USA?

I just started a position in vascular interventional radiology. I love it so much! But its very hard finding resources to study to be more prepared for actual real time sterile cases. Anyone have any recommendations for informations on HOW TO HANDLE THOSE LONG WIRES. Techniques. All that jazz haha

Hi there! I'm a new xray tech working in the cath lab and I'm so glad to have found your video! It's nice to see parallels to the cath lab I work in. I noticed when you demonstrated the C arm in RAO, that the xray tube looked like it had a piece of lead covering the side and I'm thinking that would be useful for the physician standing on patient's left side working in pacemakers. Did GE build that in or was it an add-on? Does that piece of lead make it awkward to move the c arm in various positions? I'm also wondering if you could give me some advice for me as new staff working in cath lab. I've had minimal exposure to cardiac/interventional radiology and the past month has been quite overwhelming, trying to learn equipment, catheters, procedures. Thank you for reading this!

+Monica C I forgot to give a bit of background, I work in a teaching hospital in Canada, it's kind of a new initiative that they're integrating MRTs into the cath lab, traditionally anything x-ray related was operated by the cardiologists. So they haven't completely defined the duties and capabilities of a MRT in cath lab (we're called medical radiation technologists in Canada) So far they are training us in scrubbing and teching and hope we will incorporate our image/radiography skills as we feel more comfortable in cath lab later on. Thanks again!

Hi Monica! GE does make a shield like the one you were referring to and it's very easy to use. As for advice, I will say that every newbie to the Cath lab feels overwhelmed the first 6 - 12 months. Feel free to email me if you have more questions at scottpinion@hotmail.com. I don't get to check KZbin as often as I should. Take care!

For someone who works on the supply chain aspect of a hospital who just recent transferred over to Cathlab, what tips would you give to help supply or better organize the unit? We have tags to order our catheters & coils but I don't see examples in the video.
@positivevibesdrumming5186 Жыл бұрын
Can you suggest a resource for me to become more familiar with when certain diagnostic catheters are used, when, why etc as well as guides wires. And so on. I feel like as scrub tech or circulator, we need to anticipate our even offer suggestionsc when cardiologists is doing diagnostic or intervention procedures. Books, videos, drug rep websites etc.

@scottpinion35284 жыл бұрын
Irfan Rivai sorry so late replying. The job varies a lot from lab to lab. In my lab I do everything based on what the Doctor and/or procedure need. From what I hear in other labs it seems to be similar.

Greetings Sir Scott, I'm a lithotripsy radtech for 4 year's. I think I'm about to shift as a cathlab radtech. I have been reviewing you're video a couple of times. On the imaging part, Are those the sequence of images for cardiac catherization?
@scottpinion35288 жыл бұрын
Hi Xin, the images in the video are random. In my experience, each doctor has his/her own pattern to the sequence they take images. In my hospital, some doc's prefer to do all their own angles and others prefer to have their scrub/rad tech do them. I Hope this is is helpful!
