My CFI oral was about 6 hrs with 3/4 of it being FOIs. Important material if you are going to teach.

Todd, Thank you for these awesome videos, they have been helping me immensely and giving me wonderful direction. My only comment would be that I believe this video should be before the video you have posted second on the playlist. This video seems as though it should be number 2 in the series and "Getting started - The Fundamentals of Instructing" should be number 3. I made the mistake of watching this video third, but none the less I got all the main points figured out, so thank you for your help!

Yes, I've watched all 18 videos, but the whole series seems to be only about half-way posted to KZbin so far. I think! So I'm waiting for the rest of it.

Hey Todd what do you think of the fact that some people buy lesson plans from third party organizations?
@ToddShellnuttCPC2 жыл бұрын
I think that they are shorting themselves. I would often see applicants come to the CFI rides with lesson plans that they had bought, but never looked at. So when I would ask them about a specific subject, they had the lesson plan, but still could not teach it because they had no idea what was in the lesson. For the time that it takes to create a full set of lesson plans, I think it pays dividends when it comes time to demonstrate you teaching skills and piloting knowledge in the check ride. Hope this helps.

@@ToddShellnuttCPC I agree with you. Making a lesson plan yourself is like keeping it in your brain also, if that makes sense. So as an examiner, you have the privilege to look at the candidates' lesson plans or no? In other words, how do you know that they bought them?
@ToddShellnuttCPC2 жыл бұрын
@@shockysocky5396 Actually, the DPE is supposed to check for their use of them. It states in the PTS on page 13 where is talks about the areas of Satisfactory Performance. It stated in line 9 that the applicant must demonstrate satisfactory performance with regard to: the knowledge of the development and effective use of a course of training, a syllabus, and a lesson plan. Normally, I just would ask them at the beginning of the ride if they have their lesson plans, then I plan on seeing them use them during.

@@ToddShellnuttCPC I really appreciate that Todd. Thank you so much. I'm sorry to ask you so many questions, could you please simply tell me what the "Special Emphasis Areas" are all about for the CFI rides? All I want to know is do the examiners want the candidates to talk about these areas in presenting/teaching every lesson plan that the examiner asks to teach?
@ToddShellnuttCPC2 жыл бұрын
@@shockysocky5396 No worries - keep asking! In the old ways of the PTS (versus ACS), the SEAs were listed separate and had to be discussed prior to getting to the material within each Area of Operation and corresponding Tasks. Now with the new ACS, we blend those items into each area that we talk about as needed. So, normally, you would just discuss these with the examiner before they start with the actual content of the ride, followed by a review of the written test knowledge codes. So, checkride starts, SEA review, AKTR test code review, then the review of each Area of Operation. Hope this helps. You will need to be fluent in the SEAs as the list is compiled of what the FAA deems as most important.
