This is so good, Britney. The down swing was just what I was struggling as the bell was dropping too fast, pulling my forearms & chewing up my hands.

Love this! I am actually on Bea Rodrigue's team. SHe is my instructor and a great teacher. But sometimes you just need one more person to explain it. And this video did it! I realized I was folding too quickly after watching this. My snatch has already improved upon watching it. If Bea wasn't encouraging me to do double bells, I might try my hand at snatch again!!! Thanks for the vid!

I'm a 64 year old man that was inspired by Jerry Gray to start kettlebell sport training. You are a great teacher and I have learned a lot. One question on the snatch. I notice a slight heel lift from the foot that is on the same side as the kettlebell. Is that important ? Thanks.
@kbfitbritt
@kbfitbritt 2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Jerry is amazing. I'm glad to hear my videos have helped you. Lifting the heel in and of itself is not important; it's about shifting your weight to the opposite foot, which causes the hip to lift and therefore the heel may lift. However, it's not necessary to lift the heel, as long as the weight shift occurs. Does that make sense?

love the breakdown on each aspect of this technique, when I train with kettlebells I've always done the hard style swings and snatches and found it great for athleticism, cardio and robustness. What's the main benefits for GS style snatches?
@kbfitbritt
@kbfitbritt 6 жыл бұрын
The main reason to use GS style technique for snatch is efficiency for high repetition sets (to avoid excess grip fatigue and hand tears). It's a great total body workout that builds cardiovascular endurance. Plus, it builds immense mental tenacity (try getting through 3-5 minutes per arm without stopping and you will see what I mean!).

hi Brittany, ive followed your snatch intro really closely! however i noticed my upper traps are overused whenever the bell goes overhead. And Im suffering from inflamed upper traps. Is this part of the snatch journey ?
@kbfitbritt
@kbfitbritt 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Denise, any overhead training utilizes the upper traps. That being said, make sure you have sufficient shoulder flexion to go overhead, and that your lats are active!

I have some quetions. Question 1 I happen to see two types of kettlebell sports swing. One type is swing a bell in about 4~5 o'clock(or 7~8o'clock) direction with an arm streight. Another type is swing a bell upward up to a chest position with an arm little bent like your video. What's different with these two types of swing. The video below is the former type of swing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYCueZ-Zbap-btE Question 2 Should my shoulder is packed to swing a bell in sports style? I have experienced a hard style swing ever, so I’m apt to do pack my shoulder.
@kbfitbritt
@kbfitbritt 4 жыл бұрын
1) I'd say the difference is mostly stylistic (based on body type & preference) or depending on how one has been coached to do the Sport swing. I don't think the difference is significant. 2) Shoulder doesn't need to be "packed". I'd say it's somewhere in the middle of elevation and depression; it's more about the right feel than an exact position.

so this is the russian technic. and what do you think of american technic? is it more effective? energy use? calories waste?
@kbfitbritt
@kbfitbritt 6 жыл бұрын
What exactly do you mean by "American technique" - do you mean hardstyle or the swing that CrossFit uses?
@user-vx3zr9ch7c
@user-vx3zr9ch7c 6 жыл бұрын
I mean when you do Americam style you do more squat then slope. You know your legs and back work like you are doing deadlift sumo?
@kbfitbritt
@kbfitbritt 6 жыл бұрын
I enjoy that style as well. I think they serve different purposes. :) American style great for training explosive power and speed, and Russian style better for strength endurance and efficiency.

I^m not sure with your point of view about purposes of different technics but I^m absoulutely sure that the joy is the main measure and criterion. go on.
