This was a very nice introduction to the harp. Now we know how this huge machine works. I am sure it is a very difficult instrument to master . I did the classical piano for at least two decades but I wish I also played this beautiful instrument. I am looking forward for the upcoming tutorials.

We had a harpist in our piano masterclass because she was the only harp student, and it was always the most exciting day of the week when we got to hear our harpist play in masterclass! She was like a celebrity

Unbelievable musical instrument, with a lot of history. The C. A. House Music does not play around when it come to music, if it plays a tune they'll go to the moon to get it! Merry Christmas to you all!

Hi, that was so useful. Thanks! Just wondering for say a concert pedal harp, will my empty 6 feet by 6 feet room be sufficient as a place to learn and play? Not sure about the dimensions.

I too started on the piano, and was very glad I did. I'm a cellist now. I would love to have a harp to mess around on, but then again, I find the four strings of the cello enough to keep me occupied! I would certainly never want to be a piano tuner, so I find it hard to visualize myself tuning all the harp's strings on a weekly basis. How many strings are on a typical pedal harp, by the way? (In any case, thanks so much for your demonstration. And the stegosaurus rocks.)

It has a beautiful sound. I always thought it would be very difficult to learn. You have laid it out in an attainable form. It makes sense and I see it takes a lot of practice. In terms of expense, how often do you have to change strings? Do you change all at the same time? Any other costs? Thanks for sharing.

You don't have to change the strings a ton, luckily. The strings on that harp have been on for a while (I want to say two years?). Every once in a while you will have one snap because of humidity changes or lack of tuning upkeep, but not very often. I would definitely not change them all at once. You can buy the strings in octave bunches, so I'd do it that way. The other expenses associated are mostly just in lessons and gear to move the harp around (dolly, etc). If you take good care of your harp, it will be in good shape for a very long time!
