Introducing a bottle when baby refuses

How do you get a baby to take a bottle when they’re refusing it? In general I recommend introducing your first battle between 3 to 4 weeks when baby is still relying on the suck reflex. Sometime between 11 to 14 weeks babies suck reflex will re-integrate and they get to choose whether they will suck on some thing or not. Sometimes when babies are exclusively breast-feed they will then refused to suck on a bottle. The oral movements needed to suck on a breast are completely different than a bottle. Feeding from a bottle can be challenging for some babies. Here are my best strategies for introducing the bottle for the first time to exclusively breast-fed baby.

Watch video Dr. Paul does on this subject. He gets a baby to take finger / bottle that had not done so since she was two weeks due to lip/ tongue tie surgery and post massage trauma/ pain. It's all about getting them comfortable a little bit at a time and letting them set the pace..the video is super informative and should help you two get there!

Question...when tge bottle is not held specifically doesn't it cause air bubbles for the baby

Just put baby sideways like they are when with breast and give them bottle. They catch on fast. But you need to at least get the milk to of nipple or all baby gets is air.

I’m a pediatric feeding specialist and this baby was refusing all bottles. This was the first bottle baby was able to calmly take. Once baby is consistently taking the bottle, positioning can change.

Oldest rule in the book.When baby is hungry,it will take the bottle.They don't like being hungry.

Our baby is never hungry. She never cried from hunger. She can stay with no milk for 5-8-12 hours and no crying!

My speciality is infant feeding. I worked on a pediatric feeding team connected to a large children’s hospital. I’m glad it worked for you. It doesn’t work for every child and that advice can be very damaging in many cases.

Ich finde diese Art zu füttern nicht gut..was soll das...??Das Kind hat keinen Kontakt zur Mutter oder Vater,liegt sogar mit dem Rücken zugewand ..völlig unpersönlich...völliger Blödsinn,sorry...!!Ich habe meine 3 Kinder immer im Arm gehabt beim Füttern,so,das wir auch immer Augenkontakt hatten...!??
