What a lovely tutorial! For anyone interested, “couching” does in fact come from thread embroidery, where threads are laid down and then stitched into place by other thread (or the end of the thread as in boukhara couching). The Bayeux Tapestry is a famous example of the use of the stitch.

Jody, if you were using a color bead against the white foundation do you color the backing material?
@FireMountainGems4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! We've asked Jody and this is her reply, "some will dye the beading foundation and some will use permanent colored pens. For me, I just cover it up with a flower, spiney fringe or anything else that may work in that space." We hope that helps! Great question too!! Thank you for watching. 😀

I have trouble with cupchain. It ends up looking as if I placed it almost with the bottom of the cupchain against the beads, breathed than the side, so it's like a little hill from the seedbeads instead of flat next to them.

May ask what size of cupchains please?
@FireMountainGems4 жыл бұрын
Jody is using 4mm cupchain, but any size works the same. It's really a personal preference on how you want your finished piece to look.
