Hello Dalers
Over the past several years, we’ve made significant strides in upgrading our district’s facilities and academic programming. Our physical education and athletic facilities are second to none. Our aquatic center, which serves the entire Farmingdale community, is the envy of every school district on Long Island. We’ve increased academic opportunities for our students. Over the past year, we’ve been discussing with the Board of Education what our next steps should be in terms of building on these successes.
On January 7, 2025, the Farmingdale community will be asked to vote on a bond referendum.
This referendum has two propositions. The first proposition, if approved, will provide the funding necessary to repair or replace those school building roofs that are beyond their expected life span and out of warranty. The second proposition, which I am very excited about, proposes significant enhancements to our music and theatre programing at the high school, expansion of our career and technical education offerings, and improvements to our nursing and health center spaces while all at the same time improving security.
There is a lot we need to communicate with you to ensure you have all the information needed to
make an informed decision on January 7th. We’ve created a separate section on our website that will house all the details on both propositions. There will be a portal you can use to submit questions. We will be mailing out newsletters describing the propositions and providing tax impact and voting information. There will be videos created on each aspect of the two propositions. We will be scheduling meetings with our PTA groups, civic groups, business groups, and any other group in our community that would like us to make a presentation.
We are looking forward to speaking with you over these next several months, answering your
questions, and engaging with you in this process.
Thank you, Farmingdale, and I look forward to seeing you at the polls on January 7th.
