I was thinking about inventing one like this 10 year ago but had no resources. I feel happy someone made it.

A friend of mine brought something similar to this to our group and was typing away. My mind was blown when he started playing an MP3.

I demoed one of these at a rehab center. This thing is so cool, plus I am in love with the size, I also like that it has its own ecosystem, just in case you are not near a phone, tablet or computer.

This is so cool. I still don't fully understand how you can read/feel those dots but it's amazing.

Love the fun color choices and capabilities. Low key disappointed that there was a praying mantis for the other Braille display vid but there's no chameleon here.

Trust us, we contemplated it! We realized if we did that and later named a product "The Alligator" or "The Scorpion" we'd have set a dangerous precedent 😂

Nice, I was wondering if some device like this exists and found this video. I had to smile that it comes in three colors.

This is fascinating, could it possibly be multi-line? I understand that could make it exponentially more difficult to create

Hi Alexis, while the Chameleon 20 does not have a keyboard, one of our other products, the Mantis Q40, does! You can learn more about the Mantis here: www.aph.org/product/mantis-q40/

Do I understand correctly that a chameleon 20 braille display is basically Humanware brailliant BI20X braille display but without NLS Bard?

Thank you for your question. The Chameleon is geared toward our educational audience. While the devices are similar, the differences allow us to offer the Chameleon at a lower price point with more storage.

Bro how do you have a color case for a braille display I CANT SEE IT
@AphOrg
@AphOrg 4 ай бұрын
Hi there! In talking with teachers during development, we discovered this was important for students who are blind. This is for a couple reasons. 1) Even though you might be legally blind, or a braille reader, it doesn't mean you have no vision at all. You might be able to see colors. 2) Braille tech makes you stand out - your sighted peers don't have it. Having a way to make it your own is something that can help you connect with your peers instead of just making you feel different. Students can always get help from a parent or friend to match their case with their outfit for the day.

I never once considered blind people would care about the color of their case but I suppose it can matter.
@AphOrg
@AphOrg 2 жыл бұрын
Lots of braille readers are not completely blind and have some level of vision, including the ability to see color. Others have favorite colors even if they are unable to see them. We know that isn't true for everyone but we wanted to give our customers, especially students, the opportunity to express themselves through color :)

there are varying degrees of visual impairment, for example people like me who can see colors, but still need braille on a daily basis.

Why have color choices for people that DON'T SEE?
@AphOrg
@AphOrg 3 жыл бұрын
It's actually a common misconception that people who are blind don't enjoy color. Some braille readers can see color and others have favorite colors even if they are unable to see them. We know that isn't true for everyone but we wanted to give our customers the opportunity to express themselves through color.

01:30 Are you using a regular USB? Are you seriously? Even a sighted person inserts this plug correctly the third time!
@AphOrg
@AphOrg 4 ай бұрын
Hi there! The USB-A on the Chameleon 20 is an optional port for file transfer and additional storage. The device already has 16 GB of onboard storage, and a file transfer can also be done with a cable and the USB-C port. There's also an option to use an SD card for additional storage.
