Would be nice to see consumption numbers at various speeds, 8 knots as an example!

From the research I've seen most foil assisted boats get slightly worse fuel consumption than a non-foil of the same size/design at lower than foiling speeds.

@@michiganengineer8621 That is understandable, more drag.

@@swaytiegooch4444 Yes, consumption at 28 knots, but not at slow speed like 8 knots......
@mechmanchu602 Жыл бұрын
@@joeordinary209 - for 8kts consumption it seems you should be looking for a "fast-trawler" type hull instead. Foiling boats are great at stability at speed (20+ kts) with great fuel economy (like Aquila 36 with foils or this L980 by Dan Leech)

It’s what a Glacier Bay Cat was back in the day. The boat doesn’t technically ever plane. Part of the hull stays down in the water. I had a 260 Canyon Runner. It was very difficult to ever get the boat to pound in a heavy sea, but did lead to a ton of side to side listing action. This boat, with the help of a foil, will most likely reduce that side to side roll dramatically and assist the hull to get up out of the water. Unfortunately, just like my GB this boat is rated for 150’s. Pretty much the reason I sold it. Too slow to get to where we need to go for fishing. But for a cruiser, will be great on fuel.
