ace was never fired from kiss, in-fact gene and paul tried to convince him to not leave in 1982. if you read his book, no regrets, ace says what the guys did to convince him not to quit. he left because he didn't like the direction the band was going and was always outvoted. paul even says ace was a once in a life time guitarist in the kiss x-treme close up and gene said that he would have rather kept the original members (ace) in the band but not everyone thinks the same.

True story. Ace stated that The Elder was essentially the final straw for him. At the time, he wanted the band to return to its hard rocks roots but was outvoted. Even Bob Ezrin now admits in hindsight that Ace was right all along. Regardless, Ace agreed to shoot the I Love It Loud video for the next LP, and left shortly afterwards. He was not fired as many seem to think.

The Elder was one of their best. I liked Ace as a guitarist in the group, but I didn't like his generic rock solo albums. Except for the one solo album (not really) he first did with the other 3. But I still say, one moment they will be honest, the next they are mad and saying shit about each other. They even said he was an anti-Semite. But Ace hasn't really gotten into too much shit talk.
