Introducing Icom’s New IDAS Digital Two Way Business Radio Series

Ive tried IDAS and (when set up correctly in the radio CPS) ,the audio quality surpasses DMR by miles ,very stable and less robotic sounding! Signal Drop out is a lot less too,think the Narrow banding bandwidth helps here. Lag time on PTT is very fast even with RAN codes and full encryption on,none of that push talk,wait ,speak problems often seen . Mobiles have full ACC socket on rear for ROIP linking and gateway use Like Zello Works with minimum of fuss,has all the function signals needed Ive always been a FM man (engineer),but since using IDAS compared to other systems ,can say this is a solid system,and dont let the 6.25khz Narrow spacing system put you off,I wasn't convinced at first (being an FM man) but it does make a difference and certainly does not affect Transmit\Receive audio quality by a long shot,think this maybe a case of rival radio companies spin! Not sure about new radios,but the older models can do 25/12.5khz FM spacing as well ,so can integrate very easily or run duplicate systems. For the radio hams who want commercial grade kit ,Icom offers in user menu Operator selectable CTCSS\RAN code from front panel (fab)via programming CPS. TCXO stability,rugged case,belt clips that dont snap and wide frequency coverage without returning,MX screw thread antenna (adapters can be used) which i find a much better system ,again not sure if this is case on new models? Cant wait at some point to get some hands on with new models for a play! I hope Icom will look again at at the low-band VHF Band region of 25.-50.00Mhz (USA) and 55-88Mhz (UK\EU\EXP) LMR bands! IDAS would excel in long range Narrow band digital voice communication in this part of radio spectrum very underused in digital voice modes to replace older LMR FM system and Personal radio bands. Low-band VHF can give you distinct advantages in Long Range compared to VHF Mid-Hi and UHF bands Plus you could development cross link \patch systems between the two bands UHF IDAS to VHF Lo IDAS! When will ICOM introduce Dual Band Vhf/Uhf iDAS Radios ?

Maybe for USA markets not sure UK legal approved for LMR use unless Public Services use.Email Icom best or ring them.
