How about Pawpsickle. The card has 2 effects. How does that work if I chose to exert it and draw a card. Can I then use the same effect on the next turn? Do I have the free choice every turn which effect i should pick?

So Pawpsicle has two effects like you say: 1) You draw a card when (and ONLY WHEN) you play it. 2) Banish it (put it in your discard pile): Remove 2 damage from a character. You don’t exert Pawpsicle to do anything because the card doesn’t require it. However IF there was a hypothetical card that DID say: Exert this item- draw a card. Then you could do that the turn you play it and every other turn you had it. If this hypothetical card also had a second ability that said “exert this card: Remove 2 damage” then you have to choose which you do because both requires you to exert the card and you can’t do that twice unless another card readied it. Does that make sense? -Jacob

The other episodes (episode 1 talking about characters) may help, but if you have more questions, I can try to answer them here. Questing is what you typically do with a character to gain "Lore" that you need to win (getting 20 lore wins you the game). When you quest with a character, they are turned sideways (exerted) and you gain Lore equal to the number of lore symbols on the right side of the card.

Thank you I out my question right when episode 2 pop up haha sorry! But that means we advances in lore but we don’t challenge or is one or the other ? So I can work just lore lore and win the game? Or challenging allows lore too? That’s the part I’m trying to figure out on the game process…. And I see we can use more than one character at a time…. On my turn how many characters can I have challenging or lore? If I have a few characters with enough lore to win the round that’s it? Is preparing them with ink the main consuming tactic part? Thank you for the help… I’ll continue watching the remaining videos but that’s kind of where I’m lost at.

So... Item cards do stay unless they are getting destroyed by the opponend? Meaning, if I play the coconut or any other item, I can use these items every turn? Or do I need to remove the item as soon as it has been used?

Hey there! This is a great question. Unless the card specifically says to banish itself after use, the item stays in play unless otherwise acted upon by another card. Cards like Rise of the Titans from your opponent or Hiram Flaversham used by you are examples of cards that will remove an item from play, either for better or worse. Hopefully this helps! -Tyler

So with that item card, the pocket Watch, it costs 3 ink to play? But when exerted you pay 1 ink? How exactly does that work? I understand when you get enough ink to play a character, you need to wait a turn before it can take action. Item cards can be used immediately as long as you have the ink to play it right? So item cards can be played like a character card, spending ink to put them on the field, but that doesnt mean you have to use it effect immediately? I ask this because of that coconut basket card. So if you pay 2 ink, you put the card in play and it just stays there as an effect? I asume there are characters, items, or abilities that allow you to remove those cards. So item cards are kinda similar to like PokeTools, they stay there unless something happens to remove them. So any card that requires you to exert that item first pretty much means you are gonna follow what it says (such as paying ink) to then get its effect right? And then it goes back to ready at the end of the turn right? So, if I wanted to immediately use the pocket Watch, I would first need to spend 3 ink to put it in play, then exert it, spend 1 more ink, then I gain its effect? Or if I wanted to play a slow game, or bulks myself up, spend 3 ink to put it into play, challenge or quest, then when its my turn again, ive regained all my ink, and can spend 1 ink when I exert pocket Watch to gain rush, and still use the rest of my ink on other stuff, right? This can get complex quick, but I find it interesting.

After reading your whole comment, I think you actually fully understand the concept just fine. You pay the initial cost to play an item and it stays in play. With the coconut basket example, that item is just a passive effect that helps you until it is removed by something. The Pocket watch does indeed cost 3 to play, but it’s effect also requires it to be exterted and have 1 ink spent in order to activate it for the turn, but it readies just like everything else does at the start of your turns. It’s a very common practice in slow decks to play out items to fill our your early turns and then use them every turn in the late game to max out the ink you spend. Currently the only permanent item removal is in Steel with “Beast-Hardheaded” and the action card “Break”.

The "Let it Go" card puts an opponent's character in their ink well face down and exerted. Is this permanent? If so, how do you know which effects are permanent or not? Thank you :)

Typically, if a card’s effect is not permanent, the card will give what’s called conditional timing. Phrases like “until end of turn” or “at the start of your next turn” are normally what Lorcana uses in such cases to dictate whether an effect has an expiration. If such as a phrase is not present, the effect is typically permanent.
