Nice and soft, the more work we can get accomplished from the ground before ever stepping in the saddle is so valuable. I start as soon as their on the ground. Halter and a butt rope for reinforcement to apply just the hint of pressure from behind, no tugging on the face and neck and having mom there for support, builds trust and confidence. Lovely.

Really great idea! I've got a three year old that I need to teach how to neck rein but I wasn't sure where to start since I primarily ride dressage. Perfect also to do the next time I get a colt.

@@dalefredricks6546 Maybe Brittany could try applying her arm over the neck while brushing-doing this every day so her horse gets used to things he doesn't like and realizing it's just her arm, nothing that's going to harm him?
