We, as a school team, after high school tuned a yugo 55 (1.1) to 92 hp...head done at IMR in Rakovica, bigger intake made, ducts polished, weber carburetor 34/36 with big nozzles...but it must have a roll bar, it can be done so that the rear seats can be used afterwards, by following the line of the roof.... When you are in Bosnia, come to Serbia, look at the last series Yugo(2008/2009)with a dashboard with a tachometer and a new body kit, maybe you use something..

I think best engine for it would be b16 or k20 from honda civic its eazy 200hp if you want even higher with stock internals and it will be a beast. I have a name for it Yapgo or Japgo :) love ur stuff man greetings from Serbia ❤

Good video today, looks like a big project. Looking forward to see your progress on it. I had a customer that took a chevy aveo motor out. Looks like a perfect size for a yugo. Double overhead cam. hi buddy i'm from Kosovo, I also have a Yugo 1989, was original now i swap a fiat tempra engine 1.6 8v with weber 32-32 it runs perfect. I suggest u for swap some fiat engines so its easy just plug and play but honda engines are strong also, like honda vtec k20 or k24. take care bro

Not sure what type of engine you have in mind but a 1.8 Toyota Corolla Engine would probably get that little car moving really good down the road 👍 and they are very reliable. And certain years have a timing chain instead of a belt 👍

Don't ruin it with japanese,german or something engine, keep it in the family zastava-fiat,plenty of great engines with least or no complications to fit in,even the gearbox and all the other stuff in engine bay.All the best i samo jako brate.
