What a handsome street survivor Sharky is! Life on the streets in Mexico is very harsh on dogs. They are many times mistreated or ignored by people because they have no value. They fight for every resource and sadly many do not survive. Many years ago now, I brought home a street dog from Mexico who was in much rougher than than this brave guy, and with time, patience and love, he became the best dog! Looking forward to see how Sharky progresses!💕

Thank you for loving him. Any time I have seen aggression in a dog, it has been attributed to fear. These dogs have had trauma in their past. They just need patience and love. Thank you for teaching others how to care for dogs with this type of history.

Our developmentally delayed son's dog is now 14 yrs old, some kind of poodle mix, she's blind, deaf and takes more time to mediate (eye drops, thyroid meds, hydrocodone for her cough) and she's till. doing her job, sitting by his side, laying next to him, and just being his "buddy". She's not in any pain, and only her cough bothers her. We know we are at the end of a wonderful long run (my neighbors brought her in from Mexico thinking she was a pure bread Maltese, and when the saw she wasn't they were going to put her in a dropbox at our local humane society. They brought her over here and she was so young she had to be bottle fed. So damn sad!! I told them I'd take her because at 3 or 4 wks she wouldn't survive the dropbox on the weekend I didn't think. They told me I had to pay them $400.00 for her. Good grief! So I did. Then with all the vet bills, lab fees, shots, medications and the getting her fixed... I was out over $1000.00! But here we are 14yrs later and I regret nothing. I will never ever complain about adoption fees, as all of those things are already taken care of. It's sad that our little one's time is coming to a close, and we will soon be looking for another comfort animal for our son. Because of covid he lost his day program and has been home 24/7 for almost 2yrs now. Our son is immune suppressed, so we're still keeping him pretty at home. Thank God for our fur family!!

Izzie RH You do realize that even vaccinated people are getting infected with the virus and/or a mutation of it, and even dying? Colin Powell was fully vaccinated and passed away from it just a few days ago. People who were infected (before the vaccines came out) have the highest and strongest immunity to the virus, as a result of their antibodies. Most importantly, there are a lot of people, like Derek's son who is immunosuppressed that should not get the vaccine.

Been around a lot of dogs like Sharky. Oddly enough they were living in Mexico. I can't stress enough how hard it is to find a rescue or a person to live with this type of dog. I hope you continue to show the world ANYTHING is possible. It can be done with a lot of observation, kindness and patience. You just have to let the dog trust in his own time. 💘 Lee

Lets hope they are just benign fatty tumors...sometimes my labs would get those as they got older..., the vet would needle-aspirate them, to see what kind they were. And if they got larger , like those, they would be removed. But they also can be cancerous. Lets hope for the best and maybe Lee will give us an update.

I am blessed to share my life with Maia, my 10-year old Mexican rescue. Fortunately for her, she was rescued as a young puppy so her difficult days did not last very long. It looks like some of Sharky's scars could be from oil burns. Sadly, it is a common injury to street dogs as some of the street food vendors throw hot oil on the dogs to discourage them from begging near their stands. Thank God Sharky found you.... he has no idea how much love and care is coming his way. God bless you Lee Asher

Lee and Shelby became my teachers today as I introduced my young dog to a dog that responded like Shelby. I knew not to be upset by that response. And I took the opportunity to gently train my dog on canine boundaries. I immediately told the other dog's human to just let them communicate, and that it was no problem at all.
