Introducing Our New Lion Pride - Meg and Icarus | The Lion Whisperer. Today is the day… we’re officially forming a new lion pride! Over the last few months, we’ve been working hard at helping Meg and Icarus bond with one and other in the hopes of being able to put them in the same enclosure. With the help of oxytocin, we’ve successfully been able to introduce the two lions, and let’s just say, it was absolutely perfect.

Can’t believe it’s been 1.5 years since Amy’s passing, it doesn’t feel that long ago our hearts were ripped out, I’m so grateful for this new pairing, I pray they continue to do well together, I’ve been waiting with bated breath to see if these two were compatible, they deserve it, lions are in prides, they need each other. That’s the thing Kev, we can’t personify animal behaviour, never assume eh? It’s like saying your giant monitor lizard is like a dog too, you can’t equate the two, very different brains and ways of thinking. It’s all your experiences that made this happen. I found myself holding my breath and was so worried. Meg looked at ease just laying there. Right before you opened the gate you were by Meg and she looked up at you and there was such trust in her eyes it made me tear up. What a wonderful thing you have done for those two precious animals. 👍🥰❤️

This was a joy to watch. It was so sad that they each lost their mate. Lions are at their happiest when they are not isolated and alone. "A match made in Heaven" is so apt.

I'm glad they can live happy. Even if they don't come to share the same level of intimacy they did with their former pridemates, having another presence can be calming if not comforting. I'm always impressed and happy to see how much effort Kevin and the others put into improving the quality of life for the animals instead of just maintaining it.

I was in tears when Icarus went into the enclosure with Meg. To know that hopefully they can become companions is so heart warming as I was saddened thinking of them being on their own and living out the rest of their lives alone. This is so beautiful to see! It is really amazing to see all the effort and care you put into keeping your animals happy and living their best lives!! This was time consuming and you had to bring in extra help which probably cost money but it’s all worth it bc the outcome is so beneficial to the lions!!! I’m so disgusted with this Tiger King 2 stuff and don’t even want to watch it to give them the attention. Just seeing you with your captive cats compared to these sideshow petting zoos here in America is disturbing! Thank you so much for putting this content out bc it’s so important people learn the truth about these beautiful creatures but to also set an important example!! We need to stop breeding captive lions/ tigers for profit and we need to give the ones already in captivity the best lives possible!!! …. Also side note let’s start drugging humans with oxytocin…. Perhaps we’d have a more peaceful world!

My heart was racing also! It’s amazing the connection I feel to Meg…and, of course, Bobcat and Gabby…zoos are awful and places like Tiger King should be abolished…but the purpose of having people get to know these fellow creatures more intimately so that we have a stake in their wild family is an important one. The Lion Whisperer does this beautifully!!! I have become so much more concerned about the plight of the big cats in the wild, and it is because of my involvement through Kevin’s videos! I can watch wild lions in awe and admiration, but do not feel the connection I do through getting to know Meg and Amy, and Bobcat and Gabby, and the rest of the clan.
