Wild predators, no matter how cared for will always maintain unpredictable instinctual behavior to some degree. The Lion Whisperer has never sugar coated their behavior and accepts, loves them for what they are. They, in return, love and respect him (for the most part).

It saddens me terribly that lions are treated like a business. One of the reasons I love what you do is that you took your responsibility to the lions in your care so seriously. You are not always adding more so we can look at young ,new lions. You treat your lions as family. I love that.

To be fair that's not really what he does, running a sanctuary is a full time job and a lot of administration, dealing with authorities and suppliers etc. The hanging out with the lions we see on these videos is a very small part of his responsibilities.

I'm so glad that Kevin can be an example for anyone who is around animals, domestic or wild. Each animal is just that and they need to be treated so, a dog, cat, bear, tiger etc. Need to be respected as what nature has intended not what's convenient for us. He knows how to show them how awesome humans can be and the benefits that come with them but also respect that she isn't a human and has her own needs that aren't the same as us and he respects the fact that she's wild. That's why I believe that he will never be intentionally hurt by his animals.

• Ah, another video with Meg, they're always fun (with a couple of exceptions). • I hope Meg doesn't pick up Gabby's bad habits, one Lion murdering tyres is bad enough. • I don't blame Kevin for being wary of the lightning. He's already lost 1 Lion (the magnificent Thor SR), I wouldn't want to lose another Lion- especially not one that I have such a special relationship with- to the same fate. (I always remember Kevin saying that Meg & Amy- god rest her soul- were 2 Lionesses that he had the best relationship with). • I love eyeshine on animals, I admit it's something I wish I had. Meg's eyeshine is really beautiful (just like the rest of her).

When I hear the phrases "culling/euthanizing lions", it hurts like a stab in my heart and I cry(and I'm a 65 year old grizzled soul). Kevin, does The Foundation have enough money to buy the lion farms when they're down on their luck? It would have to be with the contract that it will not be started back up. I don't think Meg is being naughty. It is pretty evident that she loves you, is probably lonely/bored as a solo cat , and is very affectionate with you as her only pridemate.

Unlikely they can compete with the price of bone and the ( to my ear ) ominous silence leads me pretty strongly towards that being what's going on.

He mentioned previously that he wont be taking on any more lions that need care for the rest of their life. Its too hard on him (and I imagine he knows he wont be able to keep doing this work for the life of younger animals he might be taking on), but instead will change to only taking on lions that need some rehabilitation before releasing into the wild. Any lions from those breeding farms would have to be looked after for the rest of their life.

@@timothypirnat3754 also, IIRC, he primarily works with lions that he knows from a young age, so that he gets to know them and their ways. It's what allows him to go into enclosures with them. IIRC, he said he wouldn't go into one with a lion he doesn't know
