You're in the big time now! I bet your fire starter buyers are happy to see this addition! Almost everything you do is efficient so this is a natural progression Now you can catch up on other things. When I was in high school my dad and a friend had a company where they designed escapement mechanisms on vibratory bowls to count and orient parts before they were put in bags, very interesting and remotely similar to the machine you just bought. Can't wait to see what is in store for the future. Thanks for sharing with us.

Love your channel Mike. If you don’t mind I’m curious and have a couple questions. Does this machine only load fire starter into a premade bag or does it make the bag, seal and label it. If not I’m assuming this feature might be able to be added in the future. My last question is the chips you’re using to make the fire starter a byproduct of your business or do you have to buy the wood chips to package.

Hello! 🙂 Very interesting video today! My first exposure to a packaging machine was a hay baler. It always fascinated me how the baler packs the hay, wraps twine around it, ties a knot in the twine and ejects the bale out the back. Very complicated machine.

I hadn’t thought of a hay baler as a packaging machine, but yeah, you’re right. Ours was an Allis-Chalmers small round bale machine, so we didn’t have to fool with the knotter. I understand fixing those was the majority of service calls. I commented to my dad once that the baler was fantastically complicated, and he reckoned the combine was moreso. It doesn’t package, but it cuts, separates, and cleans. And both machines do this on a mobile platform. Pretty impressive stuff.

Interesting episode. Being a Electrical Engineer in Manufacturing, I like equipment and automation. It looks like your challenge is going to be getting bulk fire starter into the hopper since it is up so high. Side Bar, there is actually a gas inside potato chip bags to cut down the oxygen level to help reserve them longer. Many times its nitrogen but they do use other inert gases as well. Have a day.

This made me laugh. 40 years at Hershey, always worked bulk milk handling/processing. From time to time I would need to go through the finished goods areas. The Kiss, Hugs and Nugget lines had gigantic versions of this type of bucket scale system. Many many more buckets on each machine and a fin seal bagger that moved at breathtaking speed. The only draw back I see with your system...Your hopper is gonna go empty soooooo fast hehehe. I see a conveyor and bulk bin in your future. Once you get a feel for this bucket scale, you will be shocked how fast you go through product. While they are less consumer friendly, you might want to investigate a tape seal machine for your bag closure. Big roll of tape, give the bag a twist and as you push it in the sealer it puts a wrap of tape on the bag and seals it to its self. Good luck....This thing will be a blast to run.

If you take a piece of 2” schedule 40 pipe and split it down the middle you can slide it over the cutting edge and then you can blade gravel driveways without grabbing gravel, rock, unfrozen material. I use the same on my plow in the early winter before things freeze and the spring when things start to thaw out. Makes a huge difference in how much gravel I have to clean off the lawn.

Conveyor or auger.
@TheKajunkat
@TheKajunkat Жыл бұрын
vibratory conveyors are pretty cool. They operate by pulling the conveyor back (usually some type of cam system) and letting the spring loose to "fling" the product upward and forward which moves it down the chute. the chute then gets pulled back which, because of the angled springs, pulls it slightly downward which lets the product "fluff" a little bit. So it looks like it is vibrating every different direction but it is actually following a pattern forward and back. We use some that are over forty feet long. They really helps keep down damage to loose product like flakes, chips and delicate powders.

Mike well done, Mr. Fire all around! Just a little tidbit, the chips have the air in the bag like you mentioned. Do you know they also have a separate manufacturing process for those chips that get shipped west past the Continental Divide? They have to have small pinholes in the bag or the would puff up and explode. My wife was in the chip industry and she would share all these small tidbits. Oh well, now you know.
