Thanks man! I was looking to do this but I literally can't rent a Komodo X in Australia - none of the rental companies bought them. This was 12 months ago, so it could have changed but I'm also working feverishly on a tonne of other projects currently. How different is the image from the Komodo X to the OG Komodo?

@@phantomluts there isn't a massive difference tbh! I use your Komodo LUTS with my Komodo X in most projects and usually have to make only small changes in reds and greens. Komodo seems to favor green shift where Komodo X favors a red shift so it's a small effort to get things centered. I haven't found a better set of LUTS out there and it's not even close.

Joel I intend to purchase the Sony A74 and Canon R7 and I intend to use the Neutral Lut on both also I intend to use the Neutral lut on my Nikon D5500 and Nikon D5600 also on the Panasonic S5, Panasonic gh5s and Panasonic S1H which will go down in price when the Panasonic S1H Mark 2 comes out. Also James Ballard has done exceptional work with the Neutral lut

You really outdid yourself! This proves that Komodo is capable of amazing Alexa like colors, most of the footage you see out there is either green or brown skin tones. What lenses did James Ballard use here? I love the separation and dimensionality

I am a user of your sony LUT, and absolutely love your work, Joel! I have a question want to ask you, what do you see the image difference between sony A7SIII/fx3/fx6 and Red Komodo? Specifically the cinema look vs the digital sharpness? I am not sure if I am being too picky of the subtle difference on image? Feel like sony a7siii produces less natural look than the cinema cameras like Red Komodo, even bmpcc..... Any idea?

Thanks Sam - Actually I prefer the Fx6 sensor over the Komodo one tbh mostly because I believe it has more dynamic range and the CineD tests confirmed this. I find most people who find the Sony cameras too 'digital' looking are using Sony Gmaster lenses. Use some older glass with more character and you'll find that issue should vanish!

@@ubir9743 yeah a lot of people say the fx6 and a7s3/fx3 sensor are the same. I’m not so sure. But I am sure that their colour is not the same in the way the cameras spit out their final image. The fx6 has redder skin and the a7s3/fx3 is more toward the yellow side. There are other small differences in other colours too but they certainly aren’t the same.

@@phantomluts Actually it is the other way around :) and I don't give that much on the CineD tests. From what I see, the Komodo has a better separation when it comes to color, but that is just my opinion. BTW your LUT's are gerat. Got some for my FX9

Thanks - Zeiss Otus lenses. You can check out Phantom LUTs Insta for more examples on different lenses though there are limited Komodo shots currently as they're brand new. But the look between cameras is basically elimiated with the LUTs so I'd still recommend it.

There is the Canon RF - EF ND converter so its a pretty simple addition if you are using EF glass, There is the Kippertie revolver as well for PL

The Red Komodo has access to the Canon RF Mount and Canon EF Mount via an adapter so those Canon colour science comes thru via its lenses when attached to the Red Komodo

The Komodo's colors are 100% accurate out of the box, so whoever wrote you those emails must be using incorrect color management. Phil Holland and David Fincher’s colorist Eric Weidt have already created an excellent pack of 25 FREE color space agnostic LUTs for the Komodo. Rec.709 LUTs don't cut it in 2022. Working scene-referred with good color management and the flexibility of being able to deliver HDR is kind of a must today, not only for streaming networks, which all mandate HDR, but also for smaller budget films in the not too distant future. Being a member of the ACS, you should know that.
