When I taught third grade, I gave math Monday - Thursday. I checked it everyday with the kids in the first 5 minutes of math. Kids also studied their spelling words and could read at night. I was never a fan of book logs, so I did not do them. In grade 4 and 5 I pretty much did the same thing, but sometimes added grammar homework, I enjoyed your vlog. Tfs! I didn’t feel like it was too much but just wasn’t sure. Most of the students were pretty excited about getting homework. I think it makes them feel like big kids. Lol.

I stopped giving homework a couple years ago because it was consuming hours out of my week. The students who didn't really need the extra practice are the students who returned the homework.....the students who needed the extra practice, never turned it back in. So on Thursday I was still trying to get little Johnny and Suzie's homework from Monday. 99% of the time, I never got there work at all. So What I do now is..... I sent home instructions at the beginning of the year for the parents to log into our online Math practice (students online workbook) and allow the parents to help their child practice skills we have worked on that week. (All our students have iPads and access to free internet) This allows me to see who is doing the work and who is not. Unfortunately.....The only students who are doing it are the students who really do not need the extra help..A lot of teachers and parents do not agree with my view towards homework, but it has freed up hours out of my week to work on the mountain of other stuff we are required to do.

I give math homework on the nights we finish a lesson. We typically take 2 days for a leason...so hw every other night. None on Fridays. I also have the kids take their reading book hime the night before the selection test to re read the story. We are on about an 8 day cycle for Wonders. So every other week for reading.

No homework in kinder. I send home readers that they can read and return for a treat, and that's it. In 3rd, I did spelling and math homework but only 1/2 my class did it.

I teach first grade so my only homework is 20 minutes of reading nightly. I think it is common to start homework in the junior grades around here (grades 4-6). My students are behind this year because of 4 months of online teaching last year so I may need to step up the homework game. I generally think that younger kids deserve to be finished after a full day of work but we have some real catch up to do. I don't think one page front and back sounds too time consuming for third graders.

Yes homework o During the week but not on weekends. Simple things to reinforce their class lessons. Especially in third grade. Do you have another 3 rd Grade teacher in the school to consult with?

I haven’t given homework this year, but thinking about giving them M-Th (something like) trace/write your name and alphabet practice.

I feel like it’s just extra practice but I don’t want to make it a struggle for parents at home. However, my students needed some extra practice for multiplication and division.

I don't believe in homework worksheets. I have never found them beneficial or help a student do better in a particular subject. I also quit doing weekly spelling words. We practice a spelling skill every week like short u then on Friday I give students a two sentence dictation test. Student have to use strategies to spell instead of memorizing words forgetting how to spell the word. Students do have to read 10 minutes every night and practice sight words.
