Welcome to SEPTA Metro. Since we already are familiar with SEPTA's current system, let's see what changes happen with the SEPTA Metro System. SEPTA Metro aims to both merge the existing lines into a comprehensive system, while simultaneously separating different service standards to make it more understandable to new riders.
B-Lines - Broad Street Line and Broad-Ridge Spur becomes Broad Street Line, B1, B2, and B3
D Lines - Routes 101 and 102 become the Delaware County Lines, D1 and D2 respectively
G Lines - Route 15 becomes the Girard Avenue Line G1
L Line - Market-Frankford Line becomes the L1
M Lines - The Norristown High Speed Line, becomes the Montgomery County Line, M1
T Lines - The 10, 11, 13, 34, and 36 become the Tunnel Lines T1-T5. The breakdown of the T Lines is not a 1-1 change like the others though.
Routes: Broad Street Line, Broad-Ridge Spur, Market-Frankford Line, Norristown High Speed Line, 10, 11, 13, 15, 34, 36, 101, 102

So, SEPTA drops the R names on Regional Rail but comes up with this "Metro" branding scheme? Was there really a need to make this change?

The SEPTA Metro rebranding seems nice to way to kind of organize all the lines. If some way they bring back the R numbers again for the Regional Rail😅 I feel that at least on the Subway Surface trolleys. And the Red Arrow Trollies Those routes numbers should be side by side the new metro branding, so people can still connect that together. I will still know it by its old names regardless!!

So the way they're rolling it out, they're going to use the old route numbers to let people know what the new ones are. So the website and infographics will say "T2 - Route 34" I tried to avoid doing similar in videos as an effort to get people to learn them, but it won't be an easy process.

SEPTA is still going to be SEPTA lol, but you know how they have SEPTA Regional Rail? This is basically that, but on the transit side. Subway, Elevated, and Trolleys are being called Metro. But SEPTA is still the name of the company/operator and that's not going to change

The Philly Metro would be more like it. The bus system should be called the Philly or SEPTALocal, similar to how we brand things here in Los Angeles County, CA.

The B-IV trains should be replaced by trains that are derived from the R211 trains in New York after the M4 fleet gets replaced by the M5 fleet. Hopefully the M5 trains are Siemens Inspiro trains.

The B-IVs are fine and in very good condition as they operate mostly underground sheltered from the weather aside from Fern Rock. With proper maintenance, they can last another 10 years at least.

What SEPTA is doing with the radial routing of the trolleys they could have easily kept with the regional rail lines and i feel like taking away thr "R" designation for them was kinda pointless... SEPTA loves wasting money its sad... nice video btw

Exactly that's what I was saying like SEPTA Metro doesn't bother me but besides the trolleys part like the market rate for line everyone been calling into L ever since so there's no difference it's just a trolleys that bother me though

Hey Dash I might be 2 months late replying this but do you have a problem about SEPTA doing the Metro thing I heard a lot of people are mad about the trolleys split up to T/G/D in the whole entire thing could have just been T but I just want to hear how you feel about it

tl;dr My honest opinion, the changes were needed. I don't like the specific WAY they did it, but it still needed to be done. In the past, the 15 was printed on blue timetables, the 101/102 was printed on brown timetables, and the existing route icons reflected that. SEPTA, for some reason, decided to make them all green in 2010, to "make it clear which lines were trollies" but to me that made it even more confusing, especially when at the same time they decided to do away with "Route 100" and change it to "Norristown High Speed Line" Then the question became why is this line named but the 101 and 102 are branded the same as the Subway-Surface lines (10, 11, 13, 34, and 36), and route 15. Also, why did they do away with the "Subway-Surface Line" branding and call everything "trolley" even though they all operated differently and can't share equipment. Basically, these changes bring the systems back to how they were before, and I'm very okay with that. That being said, the part I don't like is where lines that don't have multiple variants, still are called "1" for example, L1, G1, M1. Those imply there's a 2, but in the case of the G, there will never be a 2. Also, in the case of D and T the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 all indicate different routes but in the case of B, the 1, and 2 represent different service standards (express vs local) while 3 represents a different routing. It's not consistent, and it's a problem itself. Because the D1 and D2 lines also have express variants but they will still be called D1 and D2. The concept of adding a number should've only been used on express vs local services while each different line should have different letters, while also sharing a color.

What the point of this, besides to spend money? Also, I think that replacing numbers for trolley lines with various T+number increases the confusion. The people who take the trolleys know what number to take, but now when they board they will have to make sure they are on the right T#. How does it make it easier to make it easier to confusing by reducing the difference between the identifying numbers of the trolley lines?
@Wins_And_Losses
@Wins_And_Losses 4 ай бұрын
Agreed😂😂how is this helping? They’re just adding confusion to a route number set that’s been in place since like the 50’s and 60’s. Completely stupid.
@DashTransit
@DashTransit 2 ай бұрын
See this is exactly what it's fixing. People who currently ride the current system know where their specific routes go, but what about the people who don't? It's not accessible to the unfamiliar at all. Hell, I ride the BSL near-daily and I still see people confused as to which is the express and which is the ridge spur. When the 15 ran Kawasaki LRVs for a short time, I seen people think it was going to end up in the tunnel, despite it saying 15. There's still to this day, people who think the 101/102 go into the tunnel because they are "green" trolley lines. When these lines start running all the same vehicle types, the numbers will become obsolete anyway so it's best to get ahead of that and start now. There's a lot of issues with the current system that need fixing. I do feel that keeping the current numbers and just adding T to the front would've been better (T0, T1, T3, T4, T6) because people will understand the conversion better, but that's neither here nor there.

@@DashTransit It’s signage for which trains are and aren’t Express. If they’re too lazy to read, that’s on them. The maps at 69th St clearly show the 101/102 NOT going into the tunnel😆If they’re too lazy to read then they deserve to be lost. Calling the 101/102 “D” isn’t going to help a lazy person that doesn’t wanna read.
@DashTransit
@DashTransit 2 ай бұрын
@Wins_And_Losses but how would you know where those lines go on a map if you don't already know where 69th Street is? How do you even know 101 and 102 is a trolley, when the 99 and 103 are bus routes. The BSL is has local and express signs yes but how do you know which one is going to Chinatown? The maps and route signs don't list the stops currently so it's actually a step in the right direction. All of the complaints about the changes, assumes that everyone who rides now is familiar with the current system. That's not the case at all.

@@DashTransit Where they are an out-of-towner or not, all they have do to is read🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️The Septa website and other things clearly show the 99 and 103 as buses. If I go outta town to another city’s public transit system , then I gotta read and learn their routes. I guess we’ll just agree to disagree👍🏽

This an agenda and I don’t appreciate that it’s arranged in bright neon colors and in similar uniform to LG(B)TQ. They need to focus their time on building new subway lines and if they use the lettering system, use it adjacent to a number and not make it like New York. They should still have names to the lines and just call the trains by different numbers e.g. Broad Street line trains B1 to fern rock, B2 to Neshaminy, B3 to the airport so one so forth, if that makes sense. Much like how the regional rails used to go by R6 or R5. But, keep the name of the lines with the letter and number associated with each destination.
@DashTransit
@DashTransit 15 күн бұрын
...that's exactly what they're doing. B is Broad Street D is Delaware County G is Girard Avenue L is Market-Frankford (because everyone already calls it the L) M is Montgomery County T is Tunnel Trolleys Each system has it's own letter, and then the numbers denote a service standard. The reason why the single letters take focus, is because it's much more visually friendly to see the big single letters when you enter the stations, then have the smaller signs direct you to each individual line, than it is to list out every single service standard at every single station.

So instead of worrying about other stuff like their fleet size and stuff of replacement let’s worry about the lines that are already easy to tell from. What is the reason of this??? I can sorta understand the NHSL but the 101, 102, BSL and EL (MFL)?? What???Who or what made this happen? Just leave them as is and keep the other half of money for other stuff. Then again yall blew it on the damn CRRC cars that failed horribly. I’m disappointed in you septa. Very disappointed.

And SEPTA, general manager, Leslie Richards, really pisses me off, because she’s saying SEPTA has no money, and without the funding from the government, she’s going to cut services and raise fares. She needs to be fired immediately. Pennsylvania, Governor Shapiro is giving septa funding. She’s always crying that SEPTA has no money. all I gotta say is give the unions another reason to strike
