the amount of people who showed up for the event demonstrates a great interest in public transit which is amazing! but please upzone the areas around the stations. I look forward to when all the car dealerships + parking lots around wilburton have been turned into shops, restaurants and apartments

Congrats, Seattle and Region! You've earned it! It might not be fully finished yet but I'm glad it's open and taking passengers where it can now! Peace and Love from your friends and family in Edmonton!

the more link stations there are, the more we can combat increasing housing cost while also improve trade and development throughout the region. Keep going Sound Transit!

Link light rail truly has the capability to transfer the entire puget sound in a way that st 550 running every 30 minutes getting stuck in traffic can't. Link's ridership potential is enormous, but thanks to a few short sections of street running, capacity and frequency is kneecapped. So we request that the West Seattle and Ballard extensions be converged into one single line that is totally grade seperated, so we can actually use real automated subway trains like Vancouver to run everything frequently

This really should be fully-grade separated automated light metro like the Skytrain! But it's at least something

As someone who has a cousin living in Bellevue, I’m glad that SoundTransit is finally making the effort to link (no pun intended) the Puget Sound region better

New tram line.

Light rail trains are too urban for the suburbs so the alignment was pushed as far away from homes as possible. Otherwise the existing rail line from Renton to Kirkland, which passed by homes, would’ve worked. It’s almost like the Eastside didn’t really want a train but the ST board and politicians pushed for it.
@mickeyhage5 ай бұрын
I find it baffling that they didn't replace the tracks and signals from Renton to Woodinville on existing rail corridor. Could have been done for super cheap and then they could have built the tracks over the bridge and it would have connected significantly more people on the eastside to each other and to Seattle for far less money. Instead they bought lots of land expensively and built next to highway where no one lives.
@TheTikeySauce5 ай бұрын
@@mickeyhage Are you talking about the Eastrail corridor? That was converted to a trail so the rail infrastructure doesn't really exist anymore. The Kirkland-Issaquah Link is planned to use a portion of the Cross Kirkland Corridor though, just like how Downtown Redmond Station is oriented along the Redmond Central Connector.
@mickeyhage5 ай бұрын
@@TheTikeySauce exactly what I was referring to. Except they only used about 0.5 miles of Redmond Central Connector. Meanwhile cross Kirkland corridor goes up to Woodinville and from there to Bothell and Monroe (not that they would go to Monroe). ~12 miles of corridor vs 0.5.
@TheTikeySauce5 ай бұрын
@@mickeyhage I would expect the 2 and 4 Lines to extend farther down those corridors in due time when a possible Sound Transit 4 project package goes on the ballot.
@darthmaul2164 ай бұрын
@@mickeyhageturning that into a commuter line would be nice but a connection to Seattle is still needed
@stroke_of_luck5 ай бұрын
The train is nice, but it doesn’t go anywhere I need. The first two stations have no riders in a quarter mile, the next is surrounded by car dealerships. The politicians are going to wonder why the ridership is so small and the people are going to be frustrated by the lack of useful trains. I almost think the politicians choose the worst possible route so they can force people into the cars
@thatrandomguy81245 ай бұрын
i forgot her name, but one of the congresswomen clearly understands that public transit is the future, but not sure about the others, and they and car companies probably caused this
@GalenlevyPhoto5 ай бұрын
If will someday redevelop into dense area. Car dealerships will move somewhere or close business. Bellevue is one of the fastest growing suburbs of Seattle.

I hope Microsoft paid plenty of $$$ in the partnership. It still feels weird to make workers pay fares to get to work when the companies they work for can make 70+ billion dollars a year off their stolen wages.
@Seattle.Eastside.Aerials5 ай бұрын
Do you mean its weird that microsoft employees have to pay transit fares? They don't. They are given an orca card and direct private shuttles/busses to many suburbs for free.
