Wait wait wait. So let's say I've payed my subscription month after month after month. But something happens, and I'm unable to pay. So, if I were to get into an accident, the vest wouldn't activate, and I'd be scraped off the side of the road, and it'd be your fault. Not to mention that this subscription service is promoted as you saving money, as a lot of vests cost more. But time will come when you'll have spent all that money anyway, and then, effectively, you'll be spending even more.
@KlimUSA
@KlimUSA 3 жыл бұрын
If payment isn’t completed, In&motion will actively notify you about the issue. Your airbag will continue working normally for 30 days failed payment. After those 30 days, you actually won’t be able to turn your vest on without an error indication on the LEDs, warning you that it’s not ready for riding. Only then, if you choose to ignore those warnings and wear a clearly non-functioning airbag, would you face the situation of not having an activation during a crash. Even if you’re at the end of the 30-day grace period, In&motion turn the airbag module off during your ride. When it comes to subscription or one-time purchase, both options are available. The entire “subscription payment problem” situation can be avoided by simply buying the detection module outright. Both options have merits and drawbacks. For example, the subscription options entitle you to a new In&box detection module after a few years. Think of it like leasing a car, you’re always making payments but getting a newer vehicle more often. The one-time purchase option doesn’t get you a new module after a few years, just like buying and owning a cell phone. You own the product, but as technology develops you’ll eventually have outdated tech on your hands. When you buy any airbag vest without an upgrade plan built into it, your $800 product will inevitably become outdated. When you lease the In&box detection module, your technology updates are built into the cost and spread out over time, so you’re not faced with another $400-$800 expense 3-4 years down the road. Choose whatever option works best for you.

Well I think that subscriptions can make the vest a lot cheaper, instead a selling it at a very high price with like a 300$ to recharge it in case of an accident (like Dainese's doing), kinda works like an assurance does I believe. Now I still think that It cost a lot but atm you can’t really do anything about it cause no assurance compagnies assure it yet (they are waiting to see how much money they’ll make doing so) and not a lot a people are wearing a airbag vest so it’s not very industrialized (the more they’ll make the less it will cost to produce individually). One big critic I’ll make to this vest and to most airbag vest out there is that I don’t see any airbag protection for the shoulder or for your side ribs, it’s really only the front and back which is not always where you will be hit the hardest… which is why I will buy the *[Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 System] * • Covers *shoulders*, chest, *ribs* and full back • Maximum inflation time of 20-40ms based on the volume of the airbag size • *Decreases impact force by 95% compared to a passive protector* • Includes argon gas canisters • Highly ventilated back protector Only cost about 150$ to recharge to vest the first 3 times (then300$), no subscription , $699.95 for the vest itseft. If you hit those metal beams on one of those Highway Metal Beam Crash Barrier (idk if that's how you call them in english) better to have a vest protecting your ribs as well . Saw a few crashes where the guy hits one of those or something similar and it had hit their ribs (so below the armpits), breaking them and sending them right into one or more of their vital organs, so ribs protection is a must. Only cost about 150$ to recharge to vest the first 3 times (then300$), no subscription , $699.95 for the vest itseft.

@@KlimUSA I see where this idea came from and its really fancy and all but trust me, sometimes you should not let business analysts decide what customers want or need. Why is there a need for a new module every few years to start with? I dont need to buy a new airbag on my car every now and then, it still fucking works after many years! So why on vests? You know how this could have been made really smarter? Stick with a base price and offer a yearly "upgrade" plan that entitles the customers for upgrades and spare/replacement parts instead of binding their personal life and security to a monthly fee! Customer can't won't pay? Well he wont get updates or new vests or spare/replacement parts, but hey, at least he stays fucking alive! How about that? Because, you know who definately can't purchase your newer generation tech? Thats right, dead customers! But hey, you do you. @@durian111 its not a matter of can or cant, "if you cant afford to pay the full price right away, why even bother riding a bike?" same stupid argument. Its a matter of principle. You dont pay monthly for your airbag to work either just to have it not deploy if payment didnt work once and you forgot to update your payment details. I get the idea of making it more affordable by splitting half of the payment onto a monthly fee but making the deployment of the airbag depending on it is very stupid. They could have had more options to keep the people on the monthly fee, like legally binding contracts. But literally making their lives depend on it is in my opinion stupid. However as klim already said, there is a grace period for customers to correct their payments before it stops functioning. But what if i just dont get the notice? By the way, this does also imply that the airbag can be remotely turned off. I know thats a cliche thing to say, but what if their servers and services get breached by some dimwit that hates bikers and decides to turn off all airbags just for the fun? Honestly, how should i trust an airbag to work if i know that it can cease to do so at any given time by a remote command? You tell me.

As the guy from Klim said you can stop the subscription when you're not using. You also get the benefit of cheaper servicing when it goes back and when they release the newer version you get that for free. (Don't know if that applies to the Klim) In & box after sales service has been great. Had to message them a few times with questions and issues (which turned out to be user error, not the unit) and they have been top notch, I've got no complaints so far!

They can't be bothered so I'll tell you. If you crash at any kind of significant speed there's no advantage in terms of safety. Those electronic vests might have a better response time at low speeds, since the response time of the lanyard is based on how fast you're flying off the bike. You're better off in finding a vest that inflates well around the neck and shoulder area rather than looking at the deployment system.In terms of user comfort it depends whether it's more of a hassle for you to charge the box before every ride or keep attaching and detaching every time you get on and off the bike.

What is currently happening is incredible. I buy the vest and the module (yes, it is included in the package), but I have to buy a subscription in order for it to actually work and save my life?! Imagine buying a car that comes with an airbag, but it can be enabled only if you pay a monthly or annual subscription or another 400$ in order for it to be activated. Not even Tesla does that. I think safety is one of the things that you must not get greedy on, and make safety equipment affordable to everybody. Because if you save the life of your customer, that customer will continue buying from you. The basic idea is that Klim (and other companies that implement this In & Motion aberration) only want your money, and not a single f*** is given for the riders safety. I understand that innovation requires money, but if you have went with the "sell cheap(er) but in larger quantities, I believe it would have been a win-win. You make smaller profit/unit but sell larger quantities and have cheaper production costs, clients live to see another day and will continue to be your clients in the future. So I will just go with Helite, at least they don't charge for subscriptions or make me pay stupid amounts of money for an activation key...

Everyone is complaining about the subscription, but you're not thinking about it correctly. Algorithmically driven computer systems have the potential for exponential improvement over time. Especially if the hardware is robust enough. It is very difficult to have zero false triggers and the maximum number of appropriate triggers so as more data is gathered and the algorithms are refined, they can be incrementally updated. If this company is legitimate and dedicated to the long-term improvement of this product, this is the only business model that allows them to continue to improve something rather than just replacing it every few years. They could do either, but from a consumer and environmental perspective this is better in my estimation.
