@@mrc14_2 In a car I would heavily agree. But in any heavy equipment, it is unnecessary complexity for the cause of efficiency. SCR, EGR and other complexities cause these types of engines to be horribly unreliable. Trust me, I work for Mercedes LOL

Always the same, with every new generation of any brand, 5-8% better fuel saving, this time, daf was first with the bigger cab and 7% fuel saving, then follow Scania, ... first year of a new model start the problems, after 1-2 years they will be solved... the brand is secondary, all have they problems - what count is a good Dealer near by you!

Very true pascal. I had in the 90,s a 143-450and that had a mecanic system and was tuned up a bit by a old mecanic just by hearing.It was running with always 40 ton grossweight from South of spain to Norway,Finland and russia 33litres/100km.And was flying up the hills. Then i recived a 530,what a heap of junk that was. When you believe then,in 20 years the trucks stopping at fuelstations to unload the diesel. Carbon 0 don,t excist, they lie already before they say 1 word

I didn't say they never had a inline 6, but it seems to me that this inline 6 is the engine they will take into the future. At some point i believe they must discard the V8, it will take too much to meet the future emission rgulation.
