The Prusa XL is essentially the Mk4. I wouldn't hold on the line waiting for a Mk4 in the near future if you're currently on the market for your next printer. The Mk3 is still pretty good for its price point and if you want something better, I recommend saving some money and going XL/Voron/RatRig.
@rickseiden12 жыл бұрын
@@TheRAINMan059 The XL is not in what I would consider an MK4. The MK line has always been about the i3 design. It really is i3 MK3 or i3 MK4. The XL isn't that. I'm happy with my MK3S+ for now, and not looking to buy a new printer. The MK3, though, had a lot of innovative features that have now become common place. @TheRAINMan0592 жыл бұрын
@@rickseiden1 There's a reason why the innovators among the hobby community have nearly unanimously moved past the i3 format. Post MK3, the i3 design is deprecated and relegated to cheap printers e.g. Creality. CoreXY and other systems where the bed doesn't sling around the Y axis are the future of serious desktop 3d printing. There's no need for an *i3* Mk4. Yes, Prusa should release more substantial upgrades to the Mk3 including better extruder/hotend, as well as more software features. But i3 is not the future of 3D printing beyond small and affordable e.g. Prusa Mini, Ender 3.

@@TheRAINMan059 I wasn't aware of that. If that's the case Prusa still needs something between the Mini and the XL. When the MK3 was new, one of the selling points was that it could be upgraded to the next version. I don't know how that would work if the next mid sized printer isn't an i3.

I wouldn't use PTFE tubing all the way to the extruder, I prefer it just to the top and then bare all the way to the extruder. That way, if you run out of filament, you won't have to disconnect the PTFE tube for filament removal. With this enclosure you can only print at 40°C, 50° max in summer. I don't think it's worth the price ($550 plus shipping and tax), except if you really don't have the time and tools to build a better, cheaper wooden enclosure. It would be nice if they also made an active heater case and provided you with plastic parts made of PC, a 3:1 geared extruder (to reduce heat from the extruder motor), and a cooled solution for the motherboard. Why don't you use the Prusa forum for this type of question?

Steppers can get up to 100c just fine. You shouldn't worry.

Compared to the PrinterBox from France this seems rather expensive. I can’t see the benefit of this over the French one.

I was thinking of that product when I saw this. You can get printer box in black too for a few bucks more than bare stainless version if that is a desire.

The printer box actually looks nicer IMHO prusa needs a reality check.
@IcDave992 жыл бұрын
For that price , you could just buy a server rack and modify it.

You can buy 2 x Ender 3's too!

again if you can't afford something just say that... this thing looks amazing... if you need it for the materials you are printing and want the best then boom ... for those crying about the price build an ikea box for your print and hush...
@cgwworldministries832 жыл бұрын
There's other companies designing boxes that look better than this with all the features at half the starting cost of this. You're delusional.

I have my ikea enclosure and I’m happy with it. Sorry Prusa, too expensive for me
@granthopper36032 жыл бұрын
Sure, the enclosure's cool and all, but whose music is that? It clearly has some effect: I watched the video without the music and wasn't nearly as excited about the enclosure as I was when I could hear the music. Inquiring minds wanna know! Who recorded that track?

Dobrý den, chci se zeptat zda-li plánujete pro MK3S+ ještě nějaké upgrady. Napadá mne třeba 32bit deska a grafický dotekový LCD. Případně kit pro přestavbu na lineární pojezdy. Děkuji za odpověď.

Ano, plánujeme. Ale prozatím nejsme schopni sdělit jejich přesnou podobu a termín vydání. -Mikoláš

THIS IS INCREDIBLE, is it by chance compatible with the Ender 3? it's the only printer i have and i love the design of the enclosure

I placed an order for one back in July during the Pre-Order phase. Was wondering if anyone else placed an order back then and how long it took before actually receiving it. I am coming up on four (4) months and can't believe I haven't received it yet. I have checked with Prusa the past two (2) months, and it seems like it just keeps getting pushed out. Ordered with only one option which they have indicated that any options would be shipped at a later date so I'm not sure why it is taking so long. Please let me know the time it took to receive yours from order to receiving. THANKS!

I wonder if this would need the cement block mod still or does it deaden the vibration transfer.

I wonder if the printer is locked in place.

I use the mmu2 and a gravity spoolholder which is placed at the top of the enclosure (currently using a server rack as the enclsoure, it's massive and I have a fan blowing the air inside the enclosure into a duct that's attached to a window lol. It's massive :$). With this enclosure can the spoolholders be placed on top of the enclosure as well?
@marklang70042 жыл бұрын
Hello Prusa, looks great! Glad the power supply is external, but what about the einsy box? I made an enclosure and I ended up installing a duct that went from the outside of the enclosure into the side of the einsy box to pipe in cool air. Just seems like without some cool air circulating around the einsy electronics there would be too much thermal stress on its components.
@lazyman10112 жыл бұрын
I have no problems running everything inside with a chamber temp around 50C. But for shure putting everything outside is better and a easy job.
@marklang70042 жыл бұрын
@@lazyman1011 what's the best way to get the einsy outside of the enclosure? Does Prusa make an extender cable harness? 🤔 or would that be something I'd need to make?
@lazyman10112 жыл бұрын
@@marklang7004 Just diy, no magic there. If you have time make a new harness, otherwise elongate them. I’m not shure which signals etc. ran over it but I wouldn’t max it out to much. Short as possible.

Does this automatically maintain the temperature inside the enclosue or is that just a display of what it is

Just displays it.

Are the mods shown in this video available for download? I’ve been searching for a simple tool mount like the one here, but all I get are tool mounts for DIY / “ikea” enclosures even when I use prusa enclosure in search. Thanks!

Prusa NEEDS to post more details about the enclosure - where do cables for power go, can the mmu2s cables run through the botton to spoolholders, more specific dimensions etc.

Built an enclosure for my ender 3. It would be hard for me to go back to an open frame printer w/o enclosure. Enclosures are nice / needed when your 3d printer is in your room.
