Thank you, we are very proud of this machine and feel it represents what we have brought to the industry for decades and that is innovation that incorporates technology otherwise not found in similarly priced equipment from a USA manufacturer with support people can count on.

I remember a "router Bob" video explaining how rack and pinion was inferior to the ball screw system they use on their machines. Wonder why now the rack and pinion is ok for this machine? Strange.... Not knocking it, most all the machines I use have R&P and work great, but.... strange.... Can't wait to hear what changed their minds.

Thank you for bringing up this important topic. I’d like to take a moment to clarify our stance and provide additional context regarding our use of rack and pinion technology versus ball screws. It’s important to acknowledge that ball screws are inherently superior to rack and pinion in applications where cutting forces and extreme precision are critical. This isn’t just an opinion but a fact supported by technology and engineering principles. For this reason, we have always used ball screws in our high-performance routing machines, including our latest IS-A Series Router, where accuracy and cutting forces are paramount. That said, our decision to use rack and pinion technology in our FiberSabre Fiber Laser is deliberate and specific to the nature of laser cutting. Unlike routing, laser cutting produces zero cutting forces, and the speeds achieved in laser operations far surpass what a rotational ball nut can maintain efficiently. This eliminates the mechanical strain that might traditionally be a concern with rack and pinion systems. It’s worth noting that we’ve utilized rack and pinion technology in our Plasma applications and entry-level routers for over two decades with great success. This experience, combined with the specific demands of laser cutting, ensures that the FiberSabre’s design is optimized for performance, reliability, and value in its intended application. While ball screws remain our gold standard for routing applications, we stand fully behind the suitability and longevity of rack and pinion technology for the FiberSabre’s laser cutting performance. If you have further questions or would like additional technical details, feel free to reach out!

Basically when you have something physical like a bit, passing through a material the force it puts on the components dwarfs just running a gantry without physical contact. If your cnc was just driving around within its parameters, ball screws would just be a waste of money with no extra benefit
