This channel is a treasure trove! Reversing desertification is possible without increasing precipitation in climate. Don't let this fellow's monotone presentation fool you. He is a genius and an increadble worker!

Desert People learning from Desert People. Liked and Subscribed. I live in the Chihuahua Desert of the Mid-Northern Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico. Previously I had lived in the Mojave and Sonora Deserts (Arizona).

Fantastic work Neal and team. I have just heard your podcast on Permaculture Voices. I am totally inspired to do something similar here in Spain. I am starting alone, on two separate hectares slowly but surely. Thanks for sharing your important work.

What a simple (albeit laborious) and ingenious idea! Put all those rocks to use making gabions/dams and terraces. They should also consider using condensation collectors such as the waterboxx to help trees start growing or fog netting if they get fog. There's also something called water crystals that people use in their gardens but could be used in farming....they can last 10-12 yrs and break down into harmless nitrogen. They also help aerate the soil as they expand and contract.

Hello everybody, this is just a quick update. We are working on some videos, but are currently uploading many photos on our instagram page: instagram.com/al_baydha We hope to get another video up relatively soon but we are tremendously busy getting ready to plant another 4000 trees as well as building our Headquarters, entailing a student center, office building, aquaponics facility, and tree nursery.

What is the size of the land you will be impacting? Some + 1000 ha?

Which tribe lives there? There's an Al Baydha in Yemen as well.

Camera presence, anyone?

Interesting video. Neal, a small point on presentation style. Try to make sure that the camera is roughly at face level rather than looking downwards into the lens (the camera lens is looking up your nostrils), & remember you're providing a very valuable teachable moment/s here so try to inject at least a modicum of excitement into your voice ( you sound as though you have to go to the dentist for an extraction, minus an anaesthetic & would much rather be doing anything but this). That way it will help to enthuse others; hopefully enough to inspire them to do something similar if need be.
