I hope you show using this frame straightener in future videos. You know back in the 90's I had a good friend that had a body shop. I was there quite a bit. He would go to Dallas and buy rebuildable cars and bring them into the shop and fix them. He did not have a frame machine, but he did have a guy that he would call that would go to a lot of different body shops in around a 100 mile radius of his home. He was called " Fred the Frame Man". He had a big long portable machine like yours but longer and heavier looking. He was probably in his 50's in age and his father had done the same work as him for years before him. Fred took over after his father retired. I was always amazed how he could take a few measurements with a tape measure and pull everything back in place with relative ease! I remember one ford pickup that was hit in the front corner and was knocked into a ditch. That poor truck was terribly twisted and the frame looked like a parallelogram! I said, " I gotta see this"! Fred got there looked at it and shook his head a couple of times. Drug out his machine and went to work. He would put a heavy piece of wood timber here or there and fire up his machine and pull. Dang, after about 45 minutes you could see all the body panels lining up. That is where years of experience told him just where and how much to pull. I will always remember that. Keep up the good work. Tom

What's about to happen? You're going to learn how much "frame repair" any quality local body shop with do on a POS "unibody" so-called "muscle car" that's 7 model years old,.uninsured, totalled by the last insurance company that wrote a policy on it, has ZERO "book value" as a totalled wreck "muscle car" with a "bent frame" that WHOLESALE isn't "worth" a year of "full coverage" insurance premiums AND is being "built" by a complete tool that will probably want to "finance" the "frame repair".

Here's another very common one that is not a rack type, but you have to have pull pots or anchor pots in the floor - (spots to anchor chains to) www.brewcocollision.com/frame-straightening-power-post.asp They are nice because they are easy to use and very versatile (pull from any location).

Do you believe body shops would allow you to ask to only have the frame pulled? I have all the parts and pieces needed to rebuild my car but I’m unsure if they’ll only stop at pulling the frame and patching it up to then let me take my car back so I can finish the job.
@LakesideAutobody4 жыл бұрын
Each shop is different. You may have better luck at the smaller shops. If it's an easy pull I think you could find a shop to do it. Stop in and just ask if that's something they do. It can't hurt to ask. Jerry

You're welcome. Funny story about that eagle shot. I told my wife, "any time you see those white and black ducks let me know - I'll get the camera - I want a shot of them for my channel" Every time she would alert me, I'd run for the camera, go outside and they would dive under the water and be gone. After about the 10th time (I was about to give up) I ran outside, missed the ducks again, but heard this loud screech - Woosh! Big eagle lands right in the pines above my head - crazy. I am looking online and the champs dozer frame stick and is $3600 with the overhead boom and the air pumps. The jackco one is like $2500 with a comparable setup. Was wondering if they are pretty comparable? I had a homemade “L” That I used for years but was included in the sale of my shop (the equipment ended up being a deal breaker for the shop). * LAKESIDE AUTOBODY I have a question: For example when a vehicle/car has been rear ended by a tractor trailer truck (hitting one side of the rear bumper) cracking the bumper / ripping off one of the tail lights aka brake lights and smashing the rear quarter panel...... QUESTION ONE (1) What are other possible issues that are likely to have occurred to the vehicle that the naked eye and non mechanics/non body shop specialists would not be aware of* *could yah list the guestimate price for each repair including the obvious repair/replacement of the bumper, tail light and rear quarter panel*
@LakesideAutobody3 жыл бұрын
Well.... There's a lot actually. 1) suspension damage - I did a rear end job on an '87 Nova and it broke the welds that held the control arm to the unibody. 2) Wiring could be damaged and you'd have to replace that 3) Obviously the unibody parts will be wrinkled and damaged 4) Muffler system pushed up into the car 5) Deck lid hinges and support might be messed up Those are the ones off the top of my head but it would be hard for me to give an estimate for the prices of each because you really to look up all the time and costs of each. I can't really even estimate as I never wrote the estimates - just did the work. I know it would be over a few thousand dollars though.

About how much does a framework like this cost?
@LakesideAutobody3 жыл бұрын
In the thousands for sure. This car would not have been repaired as it would have been a total loss. I figured it would be good to see and the car was only $800 - clean, everything worked, loaded, plus the Mach 460 Ford factory audio system - I think the loudest factory stereo ever made - and I've heard a lot of them.
@brucepigeon36713 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be overly critical, But. That Champ setup is based upon 75 year old "Dozer technology" and was never designed to do unibody, until someone added the cross bar with the clamps. At best the Champ system is a sheet metal puller. There are much better systems out there.

This car would have been totaled. Even if it was newer it probably would have been a total loss. OK got it. unfortunately damage like this is $. Labor prices for frame repair is more than just regular body work/painting.
