"There already exists in nature .." yes there have already existed forever plants for every situation, edible plants that resist virus, fungus, cold, heat, lack of water, too much water etc . People used to eat what they could get in their area, what they could grow, they used to be thankful for what Mother Nature gave them . Now everyone wants a certain type of lettuce, they want kale or something even though there are millions of green vegetables and herbs that the human being can get their nutritional requirements from. People want to eat bananas or avocados if they live in Northern Canada. When she says "to meet our needs" what she really means is to "meet our wants" (to meet what the industry has made popular and mass produces for their profit) food is supposed to be for survival and health, not taste, but we've lost sight of that. I bet most of those "weeds" they are so keen on getting rid of are edible

Choose this or human extinction...you need to understand that the world is repopulating rapidly,we are running low on resources,and with Global warming coming in the set of problem...The environment in the world is going to start to change,which will lead to vegetation and crops that need a specific atmosphere suitable for its genes,to start dying or stop growing anymore ..like for instance apples need to grow on a warm environment,If the environment suddenly changes they can't grow anymore
