Most lucid explanation yet of the Caribbean. Totally agree with other comments, student did an outstanding job of breaking it down in a convincing fashion. Personally I've searched pretty far and wide trolling and have come up with a complete blank on Caribbean geology. Not anymore. Thxs. The "Transextension/Transpression" could probably have been expanded upon that is the 1st I've seen of that. It immediately reminded of the basins in western Nevada + Utah; pretty sure something similar happened out there. Also, the idea of a "submerged tectonic plate" was defintely something I haven't heard before. Really learned from this vid thxs.

Suggestion: At approximately 4:20, "The greater Antilles arc of Cuba, Hispaniola and other small islands..." it should simply state: "The greater Antilles arc of Cuba, La Española and Puerto Rico..." Basically following the directional arrows from the video. You should just mention Puerto Rico instead of saying other small islands, because it could be interpreted as mentioning the "Lesser Antilles". I believe the latter are not part of the explanation describing the specific tectonic movement . And YES... great job at putting this all together and using the references as well, really nice to explain to kids in the Caribbean. A Thumbs Up and thanks for your hard work.

Floating in from the Pacific sounds plausible since there were several sections of Continental plates that were moving east to collide with the North American plate. Some bounced off to continue North until getting stuck in the NW, British Columbia and Alaska.

I believe the Caribbean was created by NOAH'S FLOOD and the islands we see today is the aftermath of plateaus
