Commentary-History of Tamil Koothu Dance by Dr. Esther Pradeeba, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu.
Esther Pradeeba is a professor in the Music Department of the University. Her specialty is on the history of Tamil Dances. She describes the origins of Tamil koothu dance through the Sangam Literature which is older than 300 BCE.
This is the third episode on the origins of Tamil dance. Esther helps us to understand the link between Koothu tradition and Sangam Literature. There are about 30 koothu forms described in Silappathikaram. Episode-2 and 3 covers these koothu forms briefly.
