Introduction to EDEM - Particle Flow Over Screw Tutorial

Hello everyone,
In this video I tried to introduce you the EDEM software, which is used for DEM ( Discrete Element Method) simulations. I created a model for transportation of particles over an helix and shown the solving and post-processing processes. I hope it will be helpful for your project.

Merhaba, geç cevap verebildiğim için özür dilerim öncelikle. Bu sorun bende genelde geometride boşluk olduğunda veya keskin köşeler olduğunda oluyordu. CAD modelini import ediyorsanız, modeli gözden geçirmenizi önerebilirim.

I also encountered this problem. I cannot clearly remember the solution; but, I suppose that it was related with not installing a CAD import package during the setup of EDEM. Reinstalling with this package can help. Other way could be playing with importing options.

when i start the simulation it says "too many grid cells" why it happened? i tried to change the value of grid cells but stilll having the same issue :( i guess my pc is too weak? or do you have any alternate way how to do it?

hello, First of all thanks for this tutorial, it was really helpful. I just have 1 Question in 15:11 you can see under the simulator grid that the Approx. Number of cells = 15984 while mine = 1 and for some reason I cant see any particles being produced although I followed you step by step, do you have any idea on how I can fix it ? thanks again.

Number of cells is defined at the simulation setup section. That section where you have Grid size. Put yours btn 2R and 3R...or you can let the software estimate it for you. But please remember that, the higher the number of grid cells, the slower the simulation. Check this video out...

Sorry man, why can't I import my geometry? It's in "step" format... but the green bar stops at 33% and doesn't go on. Have you installed something else besides the program?

Hello, No, I did not. Maybe there is a bug in the file? Did you try to open it with a CAD software? If it can be opened with it, try to import it as a different file type, such as stp, stl, iges etc. Also, I am not sure but I remember that the installation was asking whether you want to install some geometry readers or not, with the original software. If my suggestion above does not work, please try to reinstall the program and check whether it is asking about installation of geometry formats or not. Note: You can also share the geometry with me to check whether I can open it or not. [e-mail]

@@engineeringsimulations8355 The file can be opened by a CAD software... and in addition to this, EDEM doesn't open the example file with the truck, if I try to set a new file and import the geometry as you shown. Aslında dilini İngilizceye ayarlamışım ama Solidworks 2014 ile alakalı bir sıkıntı var dil konusunda. Bazı yerler Türkçe kalıyor her şekilde. Toollar İngilizce ama soldaki obje ağacı Türkçe falan ben de anlamadım çok :D
