6:50 a note on units, kW vs kWh: kW is power at a particular moment in time, while kWh is stored power (energy). If a battery has 1kWh stored, that means it can deliver 1kW for an hour. Using these units allows calculations to make predictions. For example, that well needs 5kW power to run, and it runs for 12 hours at night: 5kW * 12h = 60kWh need to be in the battery at sunset to send enough power over the nighttime's 12 hours. Or for the upgraded battery: it has a storage capacity of 450kWh. To fill that from empty during 12 hours of daylight: 450kWh / 12h = 37.5kW, meaning you would need solar panels producing 37.5kW over 12 hours to fully charge that battery. (I work in the renewable power field as a programmer, had to learn the difference between kW and kWh in order to do all sorts of predictive calculations. Other than that, nice explanatory video).

@@UndisputedNoobs I wouldn't say 'smarter', it's just I learned that info as part of my job so now I know it. I'm putting off playing the game for a month or so until after I move to a new house (got a lot of stuff to do), but I watch some videos on Occupy Mars and esp. ones that talk about how the power system works since I haven't seen many games that model PV panels, batteries, and power controllers.

Hello! First let me say out of all the OM vids yours are the best hands down. Love your tutorials! I have one question and it eludes me… where do I find or get the electric transformer upgrade? I have the battery upgrade but cannot figure out how to get the transformer upgrade? Thanks in advance 😊

Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words. Love this game. To get the transformer upgrade you need to get the tablet. You can find them in abandoned bases. They will show up on your map as a ? so you know where to explore. Once you locate the blueprint, you can learn it from your tablet.

Mad man.... Do you play in Campaign mode or Freestyle mode? I noticed there is the hardest level in Freestyle which is Mad Man mode.

Pro Tip: Do NOT break down your solar panels with the grinder during the day. I didn't like where I had put them so I unplugged them and figured that would make them safe. Yeah, kinda like leaving the power breaker on and testing a socket with a key is safe. Got electricuted twice. Didn't learn the first time cause I wasn't clear on what happened so I did it again.
