I love the amount of culture, tradition and class you guys kept in the sport.

Excellent as ever, David. You are a great ambassador for shooting and work hard to promote it, especially for the young, for whom this video will be particularly helpful.

Safety catch doesn’t stop the gun going off!!! It just stops the trigger from working!

Like your point about gun hold position I have used this for all of my game shooting resting gun against my left shoulder cupping my left hand under stock plate right hand around pistol grip as you demonstrated very upright and safe if you are live on peg this the safest place in most shooting unless you are seated before drive really stars .

he is correct about loading/closing the gun upwards, its the safest way, when people load/close the gun with it facing down its means you have to move a loaded gun through an angle where the beaters are which isnt safe.

Could you do a video regarding choke choice for game shooting especially with the view to changing over to non lead shot.

Probably a bit of an open question, however I'll ask anyway! What is the average cost for a game shoot? Including tips etc...? Thanks in advance.

Love your videos and have learned a few things. I’m not new to shooting but am new to shotgun shooting and have chosen a Aya side by side as a starter gun. I have use over unders and know I can be successful in a few clays,. I have used cheap super fast 27g cartridges for try to help a friend control some crows that have been harassing his chickens, I had several on my line sight, some not flying high and literally above me I known that pellets have “clip them but none dropped. That happened a few times and I stopped as I don’t want to injure birds. I have a full shake and a 1/2 choke barrel births were maybe 25-35 meters away. Am I shooting too far? Am I using week ammo,? I have tried to fallow yr previous videos advise and not look through the barrel. Thanks

* This may reach you a little to late, but my suggestions would be first, does your gun fit you so that your dominant eye is positioned squarely over the center of the rib. Some people like to see varying degrees of the rib. I prefer to see hardly any, that's just me. Close your eyes and mount your gun. When you open your eyes are you looking down the center of the rib? If you are not, you will need to adapt your shooting style to try and correct this discrepancy, or see a gunsmith so he can fit your gun to you. Next, you didn't say what size shot are you shooting at these crows. The distances your shooting are not extreme so most shot sizes should work. I'm from the USA, and I'll use No.5--71/2, depending on the distances I'm shooting. The last bit of advice I have is this. Most people will miss their target if they lift their head from the stock, and if they stop or slow their swing as they pull the trigger. Remember to keep your head locked to the stock, your dominant eye is your rear sight, and follow through after you shoot.

It was driving me crazy when he put his muzzle in the grass hate it when people do that to my shotguns
@Wilzie14 жыл бұрын
It’s more than likely the muzzle is resting on his boot.
@McBeagleHound4 жыл бұрын
they usually rest them on a gun slip, not in the mud
@jeramyh93444 жыл бұрын
It drove me crazy at first too. But as I watch videos of different pros shooting trap. I started to see that there is a pad on the ground at each station specifically for resting the muzzle on. I have also seen a few shooters that have what looks like a leather patch on their shoe for the same purpose.

@@jeramyh9344 * Then they lean on their gun. To my way of thinking, this just looks bad. I've seen people do this with closed actions. If these people are so tired that they need to lean on their gun, they should just sit down. And, if they have forgotten to unload their weapon, they run the chance of being called stubby for the rest of their lives. Poor gun etiquette in my opinion.
@jeramyh93443 жыл бұрын
@@charlessmith4242 I didn't mean to imply I'm ok with it. I was just explaining what I had seen. Personally I don't want the muzzle of my firearm anywhere near the dirt.

What chokes would you recommend for a 12b game shoot?
@clivenewton76092 жыл бұрын
A “normal” game shoot day (whatever that might be!) something like improved cylinder/ 1/4 with a half decent cartridge should be fine, if you are expecting high pheasants carry a few No.5’s! A 1/4 and 1/2, normal factory fixed chokes (U.K.) is more than adequate and probably the most used in the field. Happy shooting 👍

I recently look at a game shooting day it said it was £500 I think but it also said it was £36 per bird dose this mean I'd pay the £500 and then pay an extra £36 per bird I shoot ?

That sounds about right and don’t forget your tip for the head keeper!

The pheasants in England are not wild. They are raised, released and driven towards to shooters. I lived there for 12 years… a joke! It’s a joke to try and buy a shotgun. I was glad to get home to America.

So glad you went back home and of course you are talking complete rubbish about buying a shotgun. You need to do your homework before spouting off. Regards
