Hi Rohan Thank you so much for great tutorials , I have one small doubt, if I use ch('../line1/dist'), it gets attached at the upper point based on its length. But if I want to attach it at the lower point, how should I do it?

I want to extrude the railing from the starting point . How to do that?
@LukaReeson6 жыл бұрын
Very nicely explained. Just one question. How would you make the last step at 180° angle, so for example, if you make a floor, it would line up perfectly. Thanks!
@rohandalvi6 жыл бұрын
That might require some kind of a fit range math. So you can take the point numbers or copy numbers and fit them within a given range fit01($CY, 0,180) something like that. That will take your copy numbers and fit them between 0-180 degrees.

@@rohandalvi Where would I input this range math?

@@rohandalviI don't know, if I have to add fit01($CY, 0,180) at the end of Y axis ch. reference, or ? This is my current setup imgur.com/a/LY5zbqv

did a decent amount of digging and for some reason can figure out how to show the bounding box. its not on by default and no idea how to turn it on (I'm on v18)
@sohamshah17534 жыл бұрын
When you turned on "keep in bounding box" move your cursor to the viewport and press "enter", should display bounding box and then press "esc" when you've made changes.

Hello! Im trying to do this part but I have one problem with the pillars. On the begginnig, I have the lines rightly positioned on the top on the step, but after, when I arrive to the first copy stand, the lines go on the bottom side of the steps, like they are inside, how could I soulved it? Is like only keeps fine on the first step.
@rohandalvi6 жыл бұрын
did you manage to solve it?
@mylthendelacuerda76346 жыл бұрын
Just now! the problem was the width of the step, the sphere was like inside of the next one. Really thank you, your course is helping me to get into Houdini.

Hi, Rohan! Great lesson, thank you! If you have time, I'd like to ask a few questions: When I make a reference to the parameter of another node can I somehow see the actual numbers (for debug purposes)? Also, can I somehow select something in the viewport and see corresponding node(s) on the graph? If you don't mind I would like to send you a picture of the staircase (I modified it a bit) Thank you.
@rohandalvi6 жыл бұрын
va1ent1 hi, If you want to see the numbers instead of the code, just click on the parameter label that will switch from code to numerical values. Like you have reference in the transform . Just click on the name “transform”. Selecting geometry in the viewport can’t show a corresponding node because the nodes don’t always represent actual geometry. Like the add node is connecting the points and the polywire is giving thickness, the how do you select the add because that’s not technically visible in the viewport. You can Send me your file. My email ID is at the bottom of my website. :)

It works, Thank you:) Also, could you please explain why are you always switching on "template" in addition to "visible" on the last node, because it seems I can't understand the purpose of switching them both on the same node.
@rohandalvi6 жыл бұрын
va1ent1 if you don't switch on both you'll see a ghost of another node, whichever one has the template on. So you turn on both for the node you're on.

Could you please explain how to select the first or the last point of the line (or curve, like that one we use for railings) if that line consists of more than just two points.
@rohandalvi6 жыл бұрын
to select first point, take a group node and type 0. The first point is always 0. To select last point take a "group by range" set end to 1 and invert range. In the group by range node, if you set start and end both to 1 and invert range you'll select the first and the last point.
