An excellent video. De Maistre is an intellectual archangel to me, along with Aristotle.

De Maistre is one of the most incisive minds of Counter-Revolution and as Baudelaire called him, a true 'paladin of throne and altar'. It's amazing how so many of his profound insights bear so acutely upon the contemporary malaise and disintegration. Great video.

One like this on Guénon would be greatly appreciated!

I will definitely make some commentaries on Guenon's work, but making a complete introduction to him in one video would be difficult for me.

Looking at your channel it seems we have read the exact same authors the last few years. It feel great to finally find someone of the same interests. Your view numbers may not be the highest of the highest on youtube, but quality wise you dwarf almost most of them. May I ask from which country you are?

Thank you for the kind words. It's good to see someone else interested in these obscure topics. As for my background I am a Bulgarian living in the United Kingdom.

Any chance you can do an introduction to Edmund Burke video please? Him an de Maistre were the leading counter-revolutionaries and the prescience of Burke is fascinating.
@flavius53032 жыл бұрын
I've been thinking about Burke for a while now. I'm not really uploading at the moment because of real life stuff, but I might do a Burke video someday.

Maistre was brave and correct in opposing the ideas of the French Revolution even though I don't like his too much emphasis on Catholicism and the primacy of the Pope
@flavius53033 жыл бұрын
I see what you mean, especially with the current state of the papacy. And yet I know a lot of very devout and radical Catholics in my personal life. This gives me some amount of hope for that faith. (I'm not Catholic myself.)
@latitudeselongitudes19323 жыл бұрын
@@flavius5303 I have my reservations about religious organizations in general, although I like the art and architecture of some churches. What I don't like about the ideas of the French Revolution is its radical egalitarianism and fraternity. It seems artificial to me, a myth more than a reality. I deeply believe in a hierarchical, unequal but natural, organic society

@@latitudeselongitudes1932de Maistre, like the revolutionaries, is caught up in the old luciferian dialectic. With the left hand you get revolutionaries representing pure egalitarian femininity, and with the right hand pure perennialist masculinity. It's an illusion that we only have those two choices, perpetuated by Masons and Jesuits alike, both groups filled with weak men who wear dresses and wigs The third way is they only way. Perennialism is controlled opposition - Germany is the prime example of why the next truly great empire must be ENTIRELY NEW. Any attempt to legitimize rule by reference to the past will be coopted into the same ol' dialectic, just like Germany. One thing of worth was said in this video, that Europe is dead.
@latitudeselongitudes1932 Жыл бұрын
@@eccehomonohomo Is the third way you refer to synonymous with the third position? A reference to the Third Reich and Fascist Italy? I agree with you about the Jesuits and the Freemasons. I personally detest Abrahamic creeds in general. I like Indo-European traditions, cultures, civilizations and religions.I am fascinated by the dharmic traditions of the Himalayas, South and Southeast Asia and their art, paintings, sculptures, architecture. Perhaps archeofuturism as a philosophy can resolve this dilemma of the conflict between classic and modern.

I think of him as setting the movement from reaction to eventual fascism. His critique is good, and certainly man is violent, yet still in practice it isnt reaction which makes the best system, but a progressive mixed economy.

Idk, but Berlin is another mediocre liberal apologetic.

I think that Berlin (similarly to Marx) provides good tools for analysis such as the positive/negative liberty distinction, although I do not agree with his liberalism.
