Quick tip: Know what your country thinks on the topic, and find out who agrees on your stance. Let someone else who has the same views as your country write a resolution and become a signatory (agree with it).

Honestly, MUN is only partly this. MUN IS SOOOOO MUCH MORE COMPETITIVE. I started in 7th grade and literally no one respected me, I was literally pushed to the side during Unmods (Basically a time when everyone gets up and starts looking for people who represent countries that are in agreement with theirs to start working on their resolution). Now that I'm in high school, I'm slightly more respected but being a freshman, not so much. Just keep a poker face I guess. I have been to UCLA and USC for MUN (and I won an award at UCLA). There is no reason stressing out. My teacher made us stress out for literally no reason and we did not have to use any of the things she told us to do. You just have to make sure that you prepare for the right things. For General Assemblies, you have to make sure you have solutions: long, short, and current. You have to find something in common with another country in your assembly. You have to have some NGO's involved, really depending on your topic. Make sure you research everything and find contrasting research as well. Also, make sure to propose as many motions (unmods, mods, etc.). This will increase your chances at getting an award to put on your resume (if you care about that ). If possible, volunteer to speak as much as possible. When proposing a motion, make sure you give a topic with it, or you will look like an idiot. In my opinion, crisis is so much more fun. Although if it is your 1st or 2nd time, stick with General Assembly Committees. For crisis, you really have to have extensive research on the topic and I just winged it lol. Honestly, it is really not as hard or stessful as GA and in most cases actually smaller so if you are terrified of speaking in public, don't be afraid to join crisis. So, don't be stressed. And if you do, remember, "stress is good, gravity is stress it keeps us on the planet" (Quoted my English teacher lol)--too much stress is bad. Good luck!! :)

i joined model un two years ago and competed in new york, it was my first time to be a part of one (despite being an international relations student) and the whole training process was nervewracking and stressful but i’m glad i can say during the conference proper i was able to pull through + the paper my partner and i worked on won an award. some tips: - write at least a few variations of your speeches - during lunch break talk to the other delegates aswell, i made good friends during my time there - have a notepad with you with the basic points of the country you are representing, the committee you are assigned to and the topic you will be pushing for - read a lot !!! other delegates will also want to discuss some topics that involce world issues and historical basis - most of all, seize the moment. make the experience worthwhile

Anyone who has done MUN on any level knows there is a lot of competition involved in MUN. Competition in MUN is not the opposite of cooperation, I get that, both need to be balanced out to be successful, but "its not a race!" is just a bold faced lie.

After finishing my club activity and heading home today i saw a friend that was going to the SAMUN conference, they didnt even hand out the papers before ( i just took one from the activity managers office) but i forgot to check out the website, now i'm back here at the exit and my english teacher also walks in, i ask him whats going on and he says that there is a meeting and only citizens of this country allowed to go ( which i am not) , I get paranoid and look up the website but the applications are already closed, and to add insult to injury the thing was open to all nationalities (so idk if it was just for the school or if the teacher was just lying im just really sad and angry right now)

I have been exactly in that position. What you have to do is state that but in a proffessional way, not sounding too childish or else it will sound like you have done no research at all and people will ignore you during unmods. What I did is that I wrote speeches saying why my country does not agree with the topic and tried to convice people to do the same. Then during unmods find people that country's have the same views as yours. Sudan was listed on purpose by your dias so they probably expect you to play a role is the resolution as well, if your country was listed on the page, then its bound to have something to do with the topic. Good question . I am student of class 10th but 4 year experience of MUN. First you have to prepare an agenda of your topics . The country as your topic given by MUN is the one on whome you have to collect information on the bases of political issues. Geographically area Cultural sector Economic conditions Natural habits Defence criteria. And all about how you think and reacts to a specific issues. How much you can express yourself on your topics will also help your chair to feel giving you chance to say. Solution mind is very basic in MUN as well as cooperation. Hope I became helpless. Anna Clara Collares activate the English subtitles in the video settings, then click on “transcript” next to the share button under the video. Copy the text fully then paste it somewhere to translate it into whatever language preferred. You can then let your teacher watch the vid, all the while reading or showing them the translation.

@@pewpew1087 well i know , i was in as much disbelief as you , i actually won an award , for the actual thing on the first day i just quiet observing how everybody behaved(in a sense on who spoke ,how they actually think taking notes on ideas i could bring up later) of course I came up with the occasional participation but what I did was really just planning ahead not bringing too much attention to myself ,I had research but i was making my foundation solid , the second day i really let loose ,the info I wrote down the day before came in handy as I pointed out a lot of contradictions in people's speeches which was bringing me a whole lot of reputation and then since i was getting a bit out of control and too powerful , the judges asked me a question which rlly got me stuck i couldnt answer ,but..... i pressed the suicide button, a point of order that rlly was putting me into danger cuz if lost the argument i lost all that i gained so far but thankfully i played a strong lie , i had nothing else and made a false allegation against someone else on a 'article 66 B' man that was stupid but it worked, the third day was more chill and we managed to pass a resolution , i went outside had some food waited till the night for the dinner with my friends and went home happy :) , lol sorry for making you read an entire essay i thought maybe youre about to participate and need some experience
