I've been using formZ for many years and have never used or noticed the options available when positioning objects. Loving these quick tutorials. Thanks Evan & formZ

1. Allowing the "snap to" grid to use different settings than the "visible" grid in the workspace is INCREDIBLY confusing...I can't imagine any real-world situation where I'd actually want to do that, particularly in the way it's done in this video. 2. Two forms don't *need* to have coplanar surfaces for a Boolean union to work...if they overlap it'll be fine. (The video sort of implies that the surfaces need to be coplanar, which is a bit misleading. I understand the point was to illustrate the use of object snapping, but there might be a clearer way to do that.) 3. I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but, again, this stuff is *extremely* basic 3D and most users can probably figure it out from just reading the tooltips. It would be great to see some videos that go into greater depth about building complex objects.

1. It depends on the scale of the project. I often snap at a 1” increment but would never want a 1” grid for a building. Isn’t it nice that you can choose? I think so. 2. In the example it is coplanar but of course doesn’t have to be, in fact it is often better for the geometry to *not* be coplanar when doing booleans for the best results. But in this worst case scenario, it still works when coplanar and thus is why I used it in this video. 3. This is a form•Z Fundamentals series, and all things must begin somewhere.

I have a problem and need help. I was practicing changing parameters on a cube: position, rotation and scale. When my scroll wheel zoomed the entire project out to the upper right and it "disappeared"! I tried to scroll back to enlarge it again but it didn't work. A dialog said "unable to zoom any closer. Reduce the Numeric Accuracy in the Working Units Options dialog to work at smaller scales". ID = S.29 I can't figure that out. Any help?

Either use Command/Control+F (Fit geometry) or Command/Control+Shift+H (Home view). Mouse scroll wheels and perspective views are sometimes at odds with each other. A future video on the Cone of Vision will explain why.
