11:21 A doubt here... If we're detecting the signal through the XY component, then why would water not produce a larger signal than fat? Fat has more of the Z component than XY, right?

I dont understand why water is dark on T1 and bright on T2 :-(
@TC-dw6wg2 жыл бұрын
It has to do with its relaxation times for T1 & T2. T1: Dark because it hasn’t enough time to fully recover longitudinal relaxation. We haven’t received enough (large) signal back so it’s dark. T1 time is long for water (fluids). T2: bright because it has decayed sufficiently from horizontal plane for T2 relaxation of that tissue. We receive a high signal back and that’s why it’s bright. T2 times are longer on some sequences which allow greater signal…bright image Water has a long TR & TE T1 images TR short TE short T2 Images TR long TE long Hope this made some sense to you.

How does fat and water appear in T2* decay?
@Ram-iu5el8 ай бұрын
The net magnetization will also be rotating until T2 relaxation happens. That is not brought out here... the diagrams are therefore schematic and inaccurate...
