Would love if you could do a video on how residency compares to the path we learn as an M2. Or how you use the clinical information that is given to you when you are looking / considering what is shown on the histopath slide.

Interesting suggestion, I'll add it to my to do list.

That's exciting! A pathology assistants role for pathologist is very different from what physician assistants are to clinicians

Hi Doctor! Love your videos! Hope you can make one on how we can effectively study during pathology residency :) I know the field requires lots of readings and the textbooks aren’t really easy to comprehend😅 Hope you can share your tips! ❤️

Thankyou for sharing your experience! I am an IMG planning for pursuing pathology. Can you talk about some of the best programs for pathology residency? And How much will we be paid during fellowship? Does it depend on where we do our residency? Thankyou :)
@Baking_MD3 жыл бұрын
Fellowship salary is paid as PGY5 if you did a 4 year residency program, please see this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4i0cpKBoridoKc) on how to look up how up programs pay.

Hi! I'm a current M2 in US looking at pathology as a possible specialty that I'd like to pursue. Could you briefly speak on what I should do now to prepare myself, such as any research, etc.?
@Baking_MD2 жыл бұрын
The best thing will be to try to get pathology rotations in your MS3 and early MS4 years. Doing some research is helpful, but definitely not an requirement for applying to pathology.

What is the difference between the pathologist and Micobiologist?
@Baking_MD2 жыл бұрын
Most people think of a pathologist, it is usually in the terms of an anatomical pathologist, who does tissue diagnosis with slides and microscope. A pathologist can also specialize in clinical microbiology, where they will be running the hospital's microbiology lab.

Hi! I love your vids! I have a few questions! I am planning to apply for pathology residency as an IMG, would you say pathology is "IMG-friendly"? Also what is your opinion on doing a CP only residency in terms of opportunities for jobs later on. Thank you!!
@Baking_MD3 жыл бұрын
Hi Hugo! Pathology is definitely IMG friendly. Sorry, I am AP only, so I don't have much experience in terms of CP only jobs, but I imagine it must depend on which fellowship in CP you focus on. For example, lots of CP only coresidents are subspecialized in Transfusion Medicine, and there seems to be plenty of jobs out there.

Hello! I am an MS4 about to apply for path residency. How many programs did you apply to and how did you decide which programs are decent? Thanks so much! Cannot wait to be in your position!
@Baking_MD3 жыл бұрын
My med school recommended everyone apply to at least 30 programs, which I did. I ended up with 27 interview invites, and only went on ~20 interviews. If I could do it all over again, I'd only apply to 15-20 programs max. You can look at Doximity Residency Navigator for program "ranking", but the ranking is really a popularity contest, so take it with a grain of salt. Good luck this year!

Any suggestions on rotation in pathology? List of some hospitals
@Baking_MD2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't don't have such a list, but most academic centers should be open on taking medical students for a month long away rotation. You can reach out to the residency program directors for more information.

Did you do internship before going to the residency?
@Baking_MD2 жыл бұрын
No, in the US, we go straight from medical school into pathology residency. There is no internship year in IM or GenSurg like there is for radiology.
