What amazing series! I came from social sciences and psychology and since last year I've been studying data science, machine learning. One of my biggest struggling is to find good "building blocks" materials from classic topics like time series, linear algebra, distributions. Thanks for your series on Distributions!!

Hey if you don't mind, how's been your progress over the years? I have a similar background with similar interests of subjects. It would be really motivating to have a insight on your progression, if you may

@@elshots So, you should begin with the basics. Here is my personal experience: At first I focused more on the practical side on examples ( here is the mean and the standard deviation calculate the confidance interval) I still haven't had a grip on statistics, later on after going thru many chapter I've come back and began to understand 'em on a deeper layer. This video seems easy but actually it isn't even for me. Start with basic focus on easy practice excercices and don't stress about what you don't understand just keep going on. Cheers, P.S: what're you studying?

@@Muhamedim ah thank you haha i guess i'll just have to keep trying. i was studying for an uni entrance exam but i don't know if i got into the school i applied to (honestly i skipped most of the math questions cause math really isn't my strongest point at all) but ... yeah i think i'll have to revisit the subject and this video for sure in the future :)

There is probably an interpretation of the square of the variance. If you consider all sample data in a 2d plane, you can consider variance as the Pythagorean hypotenuse of the distance of the sample data from the mean. I know it might be a bad analogy, but that's a way of thinking that I understand.

5:27 less data falls within the standard deviation? What did he mean by this? Haha. WTF? standard deviation encompasses 68% of the data... 2 standard deviations 95%... Do you mean the larger the standard deviation the less squished? (rather than more data)
@dm32484 жыл бұрын
You can think of standard deviation as how far is the data from the mean..
@XibalbaCuahomtec4 жыл бұрын
@@dm3248 yes but the % of the data that falls within a standard deviation never changes. I think you are confusing amount of data with the range of data.
@XibalbaCuahomtec4 жыл бұрын
@@dm3248 actually not yes. Standard deviation is how far What data is from the mean? All the data a couple data? It's 68% if the data.
@midknight1984 жыл бұрын
I think he's wrong too. It should've been "less dense" around the mean. The amount of data does not change
