Math is very interrelated to Computer Science, they're not that different. Most concepts will transfer between the two seamlessly, so if you're really good at one you'll most likely be good at the other as well

compliment- one of the toughest and most annoying challenges to finding learning material is finding stuff where the teacher talks crisp and efficiently and isnt wasteful. in 2 seconds im already glad a found this. thank you and well done

ok, I just looked that up on wiki and it said "Salman Khan holds four degrees: a BS in mathematics, a BS in electrical engineering and computer science, as well as an MS in electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Harvard Business School" I'm having a difficult enough time with one degree and can't wait to get out of school lol.

passion -> drive -> success. good job salmon, loving what you're doing for the future education system. i just graduated from a master's degree and really wished i had access to these videos in my high school, as they would've helped me much more with my core skills. i'll try talking my cousin in high school to watching these!

I have computer science this semester and I am STRUGGLING with it. I used Khan academy for math help but I recently discovered the comp. science playlist. Watching him do math has helped me a lot and I have just watched half a video of comp. sci by him and I know without a doubt that he will explain it to me :)

A very good introduction to Python programming, and programming in general. Just what I needed. For a long time now I've thought of learning to program, as it will be advantageous for me to know it before I start with a computer science course. Thanks very much.

In languages like java, you would use {} to specify such code block. Python uses white space instead. This means that if the print you're referring to was embedded under the else, then it would consider it as part of the else. This might a little confusing at first, but after couple hours/days you realise that you would format the text like this anyways, unless you write code as a pig and so it makes the code actually even more readable..
@extremefire525410 жыл бұрын

This guy's IQ must be off the radar. Some of the stuff that he uploads comes from him buying textbooks, reading them, then turning what he learned into a video. He does all that in addition to running Khan Academy and doing presentations here and there. Oh, another thing...he has a family as well... :D

I love how you end your videos - ''... We are done with the program''
@AlderDragon13 жыл бұрын
@jordan10la I've only just started learning python on these videos. The biggest difference I've seen so far is that you have to define your variable datatypes in java. So in python, Sal might write "a = 5" but in java you would need to specify that a is an integer: "int a = 5;" (also adding semicolons to end every statement).. if you understand basic python going into a java class, you should have a huge advantage to anyone going in knowing nothing of either.

I hv a question sir How does the scripter know that the 'else' condition has ended? Meaning that the last 'print' command should hv been read only if 'else' condition was fulfilled how n why is it read by the 'if' command also without any specifications?

PyScripter is a nice IDE, but it only runs on Windows and it only works with Python. The Eclipse IDE runs on Windows and Mac and Lunix such as Ubuntu. Eclipse also has plugins for Python as well as Java and C/C++. Clear, step by step directions for installing Eclipse and configuring it with the PyDev Python plugin for Eclipse if you google "Configure Eclipse for Python - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology".

@jordan10la I downloaded 2.2.2 first (not sure why), but it wouldn't work with PyScripter. So I went back and downloaded 2.6.5 and it worked. 3.1.4 would work fine, but it's slightly different than what Sal is using (the syntax of the language will be different). You should be fine downloading 2.6 or 2.7.

I'm having some trouble getting Python installed on Win 7. I downloaded v 2.7.2 - Windows x86-64 MSI Installer. I double-click it and it opens in Winrar. Where is the actual installation file located? Also, when I try to unzip the contents to a new empty folder, it says that certain files already exist- I read something about this being due to Windows not being able to recognize the difference between FILE.etc and file.etc ...help? Should I be using one of the "tar ball" installations instead?
