A very substantial explanation. Thank you. One must wonder how much red there is around, not only in teenagers, which is not surprising, but also in grown up adults of all ages. Curiously, even when one knows how short-sighted, destructive and primitive the red is, one still has got this fascination of a sheer power like in Terminator, Mad Max or Predator movies.

Thanks for watching, Jacek! 🙏 A great point, that, within the context of Spiral Dynamics, each individual who has developed beyond the Red egocentric stage (and each group which has developed beyond the Red warrior stage) still has access to the Red level of development. Indeed, in some contexts, specifically manifesting the Red stage of development as an individual (or as a group) is the most appropriate response to a particular life situation. Perhaps films and series which highlight the Red stage of development are so popular, because many of us unconsciously choose to watch destructive Red from a distance, rather than express destructive Red ourselves... 🤔

You guys had good take on Trump. I remember watching a youtube video with Don Beck and he put Trump at Yellow! Bias is a powerful thing.

Thanks for watching, @ridercherrycola1068! 🙏 Do you recall the reasons why Don Beck categorized Donald Trump as someone operating from a Yellow Level of Development? It would be interesting to understand Don's perspective. Be well! 🍀

Two questions: one, I hear some people claim that stage red is rare among women. Do you subscribe to that belief? Two many people attribute stage red to teenagers. Does imply local high schools are overflowing with red?

Great questions, @nathanielbables8652! Our perspective is that, during the natural process of development from infant to adult, most healthy human individuals in industrialized societies with access to primary and secondary education systems typically pass through the first five to six levels of development (so, from Beige/Infrared [1] to Orange [5] or Green [6]). As individuals develop through new stages, older stages remain accessible. Given that the Red stage of egocentric consciousness typically emerges between the ages of 2 and 4, Red behavior manifests in most human beings between early childhood and death. The way in which egocentric, impulsive behaviors are expressed differs somewhat between average human males and average human females. Generally speaking, average human males tend to express Red more often through overt physical aggression (fighting, hitting, physical confrontation, et cetera...). Average human females tend to express Red more often indirectly, through relational aggression (insults, sarcasm, gossip, et cetera...) and social aggression (manipulating social relationships, spreading rumors, engaging in exclusionary behaviors, et cetera...). Average teenagers in industrialized societies with relatively modern educational systems will typically have access to five or six levels of development, one of which is egocentric. So, yes, there is egocentric, self-centered behavior among teenagers, but also group-centered and even world-centered behavior. Would you agree with this perspective? Thanks for watching! 🙏 Be well! 🍀

Hi folks, thanks for creating this! I began to map out my own spirial in a basic way to see where I am doing each level in my day to day experience. When I got to Red I drew some hard blanks which was fascinating! Other colours were easier to identify, but Red was vauge. I could muster up some questions to investigate like "where do I assert myself on the group?" And "where do I express power?" Some things came up where I am a martial artist (Wing Chun and BJJ) and the game is to dominate or not be dominated but I'm typically just trying to keep people off and get back to neutral vs dominate them. I can also try in the subtle realm influence the perception of others which seems like a less gross body way to express red and its not all snarling teeth and drool its more subtle and deveptive. I'm curious what my martial temperment could say about where I need to grow in this domain As well as if the red value meme can express itself in a more subtle way than a Donald Trump or Ghengis Khan. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your reflections, @ConnorLepp! 🙏 Perhaps it's fair to say that healthy expressions of any level of development are quite common and, therefore, relatively mundane. As for your embodiment of the Red (Self-Centered) Level of Development, typically the effective execution of any martial arts practice requires healthy assertiveness (Red, warrior consciousness). In other words, it sounds as if, on a regular basis, you adequately claim your own physical space and effectively channel your strength and power with wisdom and nobility (which can certainly be considered a healthy expression of the Red Level of Development). Be well! 🍀

Thanks for sharing your perspective, @@HakWilliams! 🙏 What are your thoughts on the current (arguably largely green) response of many countries to Vladimir Putin's (arguably largely red) invasion of Ukraine? Would you agree that the economic sanctions could perhaps be considered a healthy green response to a red territorial transgression?
