Mark, This is the best introduction to RC cars I have seen. I am an older RC car fanatic, getting into cars in 1996, at the age of 46. The only thing I'd add is that the owner's manual is the most important part of your car. Don't lose it or throw it away. Copy the parts explosions and keep them with your tool box, parts etc.. Also buying from a local hobby shop will give you hands-on help when you need it. That help is worth a few extra dollars over what you might save by going mail-order. Thanks again for this and all your videos.

I'm 50 now :'( but mine was the Tamiya Subaru Brat in 82' at the age of 12. At it was a lot of money back then. And never looked back since then. Have an 1/18 scale dirt oval built in my back yard even for my losi sliders and other 1/18 scale stuff. Friends are like why does a grown man have so many toy cars? Until they see them run!!! LOL. Then they buy one and their wife hates me....

42 years ago, I started with 1/8th off-road .21 nitro car at age 13 and it was absolutely awesome. Later I received a Tamiya electrical on-road car for Christmas from my father corporate job company. RC models are much more affordable nowadays which is great. I think RC is much better for kids than computer games...

Subbed. I’ve been thinking about getting back into RC cars after being out of the hobby for 30 + years. Been watching a lot of videos and you’re the first hobby-ist I’ve seen to suggest a RTR as the first model. When I ran them with my dad back in the day I found it intimidating trying to put them together. Felt like I needed an engineering degree. (They were Tamaya kits). Appreciate the video. 👍🏾

I was number 2 on that list as a kid. First car was called Buggy Special from Radio Shack. I beat the snot out of that thing until it died. The thing lasted a good 5 years of abuse, not too shabby for a cheap toy grade rig.

Oh man i’ll never forget my first hobby grade, an hpi rs4 belt driven nitro, so much fun! I had wanted one ever since my dad had taken me when i was 5 to the local hobby shop, so i hounded him for years and when i turned 13 and started working on my own race go kart, he knew i was ready and bought me the hpi.

Hey, I use to have a nitro Traxxas when i was younger and decided i wanted to buy a nice RC car again now that I can afford to splurge and already have everything else I want hahaha. After a lot of research, I was about to buy a new Arrma kraton 6s today but after watching your video on having 13 traxxas evos (wow) and buying some used i decided to see what people were selling. I ended up finding an old guy with an almost brand new (only ran it twice) kraton 6s with two 3s batteries and a fast charger that i bought for $400! Short story long, you saved me a lot of mula and earned yourself a new subscriber! Checking out the rest of your vids now

I hated rc cars as a child. They're always a disappointment. Never would do the things they were advertised to do. I'm 35 years old and finally bought a hobby grade rc for the first time and wow!! What a difference! This video totally nailed it. I'm pretty well aquatinted with the Hobby Shop, as I used to be into HO scale train layouts, but never really wandered into the RC section of the store until recently.

Funny to see this after Christmas. My nephew gets a $50-100 store RC car every xmas and birthday. It works a month, breaks and then its added to the pile. I stopped it and spent $350 on a slash. Showed my parents the exploded view and how you buy a $3-10 part and it's back on the road. It's a bigger initial investment. But once it needs a part and you find our RPM arms are $25 for all 4 it's really worth it. Since then we now have a rustler vxl 4x4 and an arrma senton. I see a mojave and a typhon before to long being added lol

Then still running my Traxxas TQi radio with all the telemetry installed. I love the idea of rolling into a new track and literally taking the sleeper slash out of its original plastic and box and ripping up the track and comp. Maybe even leave the price tag on the remote and body!

Your subscribers or new to rc cannot see the things you are trying to explain. Example like you mention how to power up the car on the ESC…you can add in the power button and the red and green lights. Hope you can include those in your videos so it can make it much better to understand. Good Luck Mark!

I raced trucks 20yrs ago I mostly used a Losi XXX I also hed a Team Associate T3 truck all 2WD The most important thing I learned is how to set up shocks and slipper clutch The shocks are oil filled with many different pistons some had 2 holes up to 4-6 holes mabey even more I cant remember lol its very important to get your shocks right if ya want to be competitive Sliiper clutch is great for coming out of a curve and getting on the throttle fast with out spinning out especially with a 2WD and it keeps from breaking things as you explained I always set my trucks up to where the A arms were level that is very important People that think RC racing is a joke go out and try to be competitive and actually win LOL You want say such stupid sh!t anymore 😁 I won the 2003 dirt oval points championship at Coppers RC Tony Stewart was there for a couple days it was awesome I also won over 30 trophy's on off road tracks which is my favorite Love your vids You should do some on how to set up shocks etc for racing 👍✌️

People stop and ask me what I'm playing with, just from seeing the speed and the pulling wheelies after a massive crash. I tell them if they are new to go with Traxxas. Traxxas Stampede Slash or rustler. If they are older I tell them to just go ahead and get the vxl models and explain to them that they need the Traxxas ID chargers and batteries, I also tell them once they get a few months driving and are more comfortable with maintenance and lipo safety. Then move up to other brands and makes if something catches their eye. Usually people in their late 30 or 40s are speechless when I pull the body off and show them upgrades and tell them it has about 45mins of run time and can hit 60mph with a different gear.

Great videos. I have a 2wd Traxxas Slash VXL and I’m running a 3S LiPo 5000 battery. When I hit full throttle, the front blows back and my truck slides down the road on its top. What have you done that will solve this issue? I have increased stiffness on my springs and added heavier shock oil, but to no avail. I have some stick on weights that I have not added yet. I don’t want to add weight unless I really have too. I figure the more weight the slower it will go and actually defeat the purpose. Can you help with this issue?

Arrma is dope too, got me a Senton a few weeks ago and I love the thing... you know of any good bash places in the DFW area? I like going to skate parks but dealing with the kids that show up can be a pain...
@jakejager5 жыл бұрын
@Ezra Redgwell what's that mean? It's flexible? Doesn't really help with bash locations...does help with bashing ;)
@jakejager5 жыл бұрын
@Ezra Redgwell you must be thinking of a different model, mine has a plastic chassis and has taken some ugly chassis landings without problem. Flex is good, metal is not good on a basher as it does not flex. I've accidentally rammed poles and so far the bumper is really the only thing that suffers, does it's job. Had two landings on a curb and edge of skate ramp from pretty high which I thought broke it both times but no, it took it like a champ. Even on 3s 50c with 4300kv brushless. So far the Arrma Senton is a beast at bashing and parts are cheap if it does break ;) Wish I could find an old box track around here, that'd be dope!
@jakejager5 жыл бұрын
@Ezra Redgwell no,, I bought the Senton Mega 4x4 and upgraded it. Have had it for almost 4 months now. I know the "monster trucks" tend to have metal chassis and I know there are thicker chassis out there for them but I tend to look for plastic ;) www.arrma-rc.com/rc-cars/2017/senton/mega/4x4 The Senton BLX 3s has exactly the same chassis as the mega, probably worth the extra $50 for brushless but I got my mega for $200 on sale so well worth the purchase and I'm having fun upgrading it since parts are easy to find and cheap. Especially since everything you need to go brushless is just the center shaft support. I'm running 2 & 3s with a GoolRC 60A esc and 4300kv motor on stock everything, except that shaft support which fits on the stock mega shaft quite easily. Love my wltoys 12428 too but that is a different experience than the Senton which so far, I absolutely love.
