Thanks for a great tutorial! Clear and thorough. I have avoided signing in lieu of a logo stamp on pieces like yours for all the same reasons you mentioned. However I like your solution & will give it a try on next opportunity. Cheers! jw

Hi Tahanan. Thank you so much. These are all shiny glazes. Fired to cone 10 in reduction. I will do my best for a glazing video. If you email me I am happy to share the recipes with you. Thanks!

I have struggled for years to throw plates that don't warp (and have tried every other variation of plate making besides pressing!) Can't wait to try this...where do you get the plaster bats? Do you make them? Thanks so much for this video...very informative, you have a great teaching style :)

Thank you so much! I am so glad to hear. Yes, I make the bats. they are much cheaper that way. However you can purchase them from any of the big ceramic supply stores, they are called hydro-bats. They are great but can be a bit pricy. I hope that helps! Happy potting ;)

This is the most complete video on throwing and trimming plates that I have found in 3 yrs of being a self taught potter. Thank you very much! I find that the hydrobats make the centre of the clay hump up off the bat while throwing. Am I using too much or too little water?
@fluxstudiodenver8062
@fluxstudiodenver8062 5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much. I am so glad it helped. I have the same issue with the hydro bats. if you can dry them a little slower so that the edge does not dry before the center it will help with the lifting of the edges. Try wrapping the edge with plastic and cover with cheese cloth. Make sure that the bat is resting on a wire rack or something that helps get air flow under the bat. Also you can leave the bottom of the plate much thicker so that you can trim the hump out of the middle. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great day!

Hey there, Great video! Your "favorite" green rib. Is that a Mud tools shape 2 rib? If so, what density (soft etc.)? If not, what rib is it? Thanks & peace, JB

Hey there! Thank you so much. Not sure on the Shape. It is the rectangle - ish shape. One right angle side, and one slightly rounded, with a rounded nose. Blue or green is best for me, they are the stiffest. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great day.
