No half plane will not get disappear,sir explained why the name edge dislocation is given to the defect..he just viewed the cube in different orientations and proved that we can't name it in those ways..

Superb and amazing explanation sir.i confused a lot about why the name edge dislocation is given to this phenomenon..and as you explained by comparing it with thread..it gave a glow in my mind sir..superb sir👌👌..i hope i can get much more ideas if i follow your videos sir as i am planning to do reasearch on materials engineering..Thanks a lot sir..

@@sexychantu5066 Prof. Prasad said that if you look at lower part of crystal (lower part of its face, which we see pictured on the page) you can see that it looks normal-i.e. it looks as if there is no any defect. So although we need to imagine inserting or removing half planes into normal crystal structure in order to imagine this defect, in reality this defect is not about plane. It is edge defect.
