Why are we using an isotherm line(horizontal) to find the fraction of phases in alloy. We have 40% Ni and the temperature is raising or dropin. So the alloy is moving on a vertical line. So we should use lever rule on a vertical line, right? Very good and clear explanation of concept sir. Thank you very much sir.
@introductiontomaterialsscience4 жыл бұрын
Along a vertical line, the composition and proportion of phases change as the temperature changes. Along a horizontal line composition and proportion of phases are fixed corresponding to equilibrium at that temperature.

Sir, is this same thing what you teach in iit?or there you teach ltitle bit deeper? It is pleasure for us who were not able to get in iit but still learn from great teachers.

@@introductiontomaterialsscience dear sir , I am confused in few questions which I am posting here, please sir, if possible clear my doubts. Following are my doubts 1- can mertesite transformation go to 100% completion at room temperature 2- what is the reason of formation of retained austanite 3- sir, we produce 100% martensite using hypo or hyper eutectoid steel 4- between annealing and Normalising, which one have specimens heated to higher temperature. So, please sir really need you help . Please, clear my doubts sir

Good Morning Sir , Sir I have a doubt at 8:01 , at this time of video on top right corner you have written CL = 22 and Calpha = 50 , and you said in the video that these two are components of Phase, So I want to know that what does these number 22 and 50 represent . Is this telling 22 wt % of Ni present at B or somthing else.. Please reply Sir
@introductiontomaterialsscience Жыл бұрын
CL=22 means 22 wt% Ni in the liquid phase.

sir, i think you are taking wrong positioning of a point . As, its 60% Ni and 40% cu but you have represented 60% cu and 40% Ni.
@sachinkumartarnalli42554 жыл бұрын
In finding fraction of alpha we are taking ratio of length of opposite tie line to the total length of lie line. Why should we take opposite length of lie line.
@rajeshprasad1014 жыл бұрын
You can see that as you are approaching towards the alpha boundary the amount of beta should be decreasing.
