Hi. Is this the finest size available? Can this be used with the Royal Loom weaving attachment?
@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts6 ай бұрын
Hi, no it’s not the finest gauge. This is a standard gauge machine with 4.5mm needle spacing, and this is the gauge you need for the Loom attachment. There used to be a fine gauge manufactured, 3.6mm but they are quite rare and sought after.

No, not specifically. Why not start with my closed cast on video, and just experiment? Try out the different punchcards.

I have a Singer 700 Memomatic and want to try intarsia. Assuming the manuals for the Silver Reed 280 and Singer 700 are similar, the manual's (from 1985) Intarsia instructions mention inserting an 'Intarsia Card'. I haven't been able to find anything about this intarsia card. Can you offer some information about it? Can it be made from a blank punchcard? Thanks for any help you can offer.
@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts2 жыл бұрын
Yes, just use a blank punchcard

Do you like it better than lk150?
@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts Жыл бұрын
It’s not really fair to compare, as they are very different. They each have their advantages. But, if I could only have one, I’d keep the SK280.

Is there a difference between SRP322 and SRP60N?
@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts Жыл бұрын
Yes, the SRP322 was produced specifically for the 322 machine, but thereafter the ribbers became generic. 322 is an early model, the 60N is the most recent and has the most features. It will fit all models of 24 stitch punchcard made by Silver Reed (aka Knitmaster, Studio, Singer)

Hi Sally, is it possible to knit with more than two colours on a machine ?
@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alison, if you mean more than two colours on the same row, then - yes - it is possible. On a single bed, you can do it using the slip stitch technique. On a double bed machine with ribber and colour changer you would use the double bed jacquard technique.

What kind of yarn can I use for this Knitting machine ?? I bought one , found out it doesn’t like my yarn,and where can I order the right yarn?? ♥️😊♥️
@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts2 жыл бұрын
You don’t say where you are located? This machine likes quite fine yarns, in U.K. terms that is 4 ply or thinner. In U.S. terms it’s lace weight and fingering, numbers 0 and 1 on the scale. If the yarn is not on a cone, it must be wound into one, or into a cake using an appropriate yarn winder. You cannot knit directly from a ball or hank/skein. The machine goes too fast and the yarn will keep catching if you try to knit straight from the ball, and this will cause the machine to jam and give you uneven tension.

@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts2 жыл бұрын
@@estefanastrader3664 I am in the U.K. so I am not familiar with the brands or types of yarn available in these stores. But look for a yarn that is 0 or 1 on the thickness scale. As a guide, the hand knitting needle size should be about 3 to 3.5mm, with a tension of around 7-8 stitches per inch

H,i do you prefer standard gauge or chunky knitting? I want to buy a machine but cannot decide which type to get, thanks.
@sallybutcherskalamundakrafts3 жыл бұрын
I don't really have a favourite. Each knitter will have their own preference. If I could only keep one machine it would be a standard gauge, they are the most versatile, with the biggest range of accessories. It will depend which weight of yarn you want to knit with the most. Just remember that although the chunky will knit DK yarn, it only has 110 needles which will limit the size of garments you can make without piecing them.
