All of us in the circle who appreciate Jarmusch must be as frustrated as me he doesn't get more recognition. Then again, he's one of the great indie filmmakers IMO, and I'm cool with that, too.

Jarmusch has had plenty of recognition. He's become a household name of American independent cinema of the years. There have been plenty of great artists and filmmakers who received little to no recognition in their lifetime. I would be surprised if Jarmusch is bemoaning a lack of attention to his work. His new film PATERSON should garner plenty of exposure internationally.

Almost, but not quite. I'm really looking forward to his new film. He has collaborated with cinematographer Fred Elmes for the first time in about 25 years. There was a fear that he would follow Bela Tarr's lead and retire from making feature films after the trouble he had in finding investors and distributors for his last film. Very welcomed news to see him back on track.

Lynch and Jarmusch are many things in common, but the best of them is cool hair.

I would love to see a documentary about "ruinporn made by foreign tourists" in Detroit by Jim Jarmusch.

There was a great exhibit at the National Building Museum at the end of 2012 featuring the photos of Camilo Jose Vergara and Andrew Moore about the ruinporn of Detroit. After seeing it, I HAD to go to Detroit! Looking forward to seeing this film.

Thank You - Jim Jarmusch. You've opened my eyes to so many things. Made me laugh and feel more deeply. Just as life would be different without hearing Billie Holiday...my view of the world would be much dimmer without your films and insights. My life changed when I saw Down by Law....

walter bishop which references in particular?
@eln5343
@eln5343 9 жыл бұрын
whatsuphotdog There were maybe too many references as it got a bit boring when Ava and Eve just talked aloud of those things. The rule of cultural refering is that you do it smoothly like through choice of words or distinctive photography. Few references that werent shouted at the numb audience were Avas dancing whitch including the dress is sufi muslim when they try to get in contact with Allah. In Adams room there were lot of potrets and one was of poet William Blake who had quite an important role in Dead Man. Dr. Faust as everyone probably knows was a doctor who sold his soul to devil in order to do good but added to that the original Dracula was kind of Faust as he was given a bath in vampire blood so he couldnt be turned into one. After flooring quite a few vampires he faced a natural death but then turned in to a vampire because of the bath.
